    86 Mustang Wiring Question

Are you using fuel injection or going carbureted? If you are going carbureted, you can use a Weber setup and a vacuum advance type distributor along with a Duraspark ignition module and coil setup. No computers required. Look to late seventies, early eighties Mustang and Fairmont.

Pontiac Badge, What Is It Off Of?

I concur. The only "Golden Eagle" I have seen is the CJ7 from the mid to late seventies. I don't recall them using a cast badge. I've only seen them with the decal package. The package was also available on the J10 although I have not seen one of those. Is it possible that it was a...

The Fun Continues... (please Help With Code 18)

Inspect the 22k ohm resistor on the ignition module harness. When this resistor goes bad you have loss of IDM (Ignition Diagnostic Monitor). Let us know.

1993 Mustang Factory Radio Not Working

Is the radio display working? Such that you see the indicated radio station? If all else seems normal with the radio then most likely it is the amplifier. They put it in a really :poo:ty location and it is prone to corrosion from various liquids (cowl leaks, coffee, soda, etc.) Don't ask me how...

    95 Mustang 5.0 Clutch Problems

Nope, more likely you have binding or high effort from the pressure plate, release arm or release bearing. The release bearing rides on the machined snout of the transmission front bearing retainer. When it gets worn and the grease gets stiff it will cause undue pressure on the cable. A faulty...

    Electrical Charging System.

First, let just stop taking the battery cable off with the vehicle running. While this was valid for some designs back in the day it no longer is a rule with electronic ignitions and computerized engine controls. Ford Ammeter gauges are notoriously inaccurate so you really should have a decent...

66 Advice, Tips, And Knowledge Needed.

First quick test is to unhook the intercooler pipes at the radiator, point 'em into a bucket and start the car for a few seconds. There ought to be fluid pumping out one of the lines. This will give us a direction to go in.

    Noob Distributor/timing Question

Since you will be setting base ignition timing with the SPOUT connector disconnected, the SCT does not come into play. Get your engine to TDC compression stroke for number one cylinder. Stab your distributor so that it points to the number plug wire tower with the distributor's TFI module (or...

    Weird O2 Issue.

Check the grounds. Poor grounds will cause issues with the O2 heater circuits and result in mysterious slow response times. Also, check for ground side voltage coming from the cooling system due to dirty or contaminated coolant. You would warm up the car, relieve the cooling system pressure and...

1978 King Cobra Mustang II restoration

I used to own a '74 Ghia hatch back in the day. My current experience with builds/rebuilds indicates that depending on the condition of the car your finished product could easily end up between 15-20,000 for a full on show car do-over. Also, it will take time .... a great big whole bunch of it...

Suspension Ordered new leaf springs... Question...

Checked the listing. It says they are standard production springs. Personally, I would try them out with the supplied shackles first. If you need just a skosh more, use air shocks. Long shackles affect the handling in some pretty ugly ways that are not always apparent until you get out of shape...

    P1151, idling low then dies.

P1151 relates to O2 sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1. That would be the left bank upstream sensor. Make sure you check the PCV vacuum hose assembly very carefully and the other vacuum connections as well. The stalling may be due to a dirty throttle. A faulty MAF will generally tend to set codes for both...

    Engine Weird Problem Stalling

How is your battery ground set up? What starter are you using and has the pinion to ring gear lash been checked? Sounds kinda like starter heat soak. For a quick clue, get a voltmeter and check the voltage during cranking when you have the problem. If the voltage drops significantly that would...

    94 gt problems?

Check the intake air temperature sensor. When they get crudded up they will not report properly and won't throw a code. This is called an "in range failure" and the computer will react to it because the PCM doesn't know the input is incorrect. On these models, the self diagnostics will only...

    The starter monster

Oh well, they tried to warn me ... lol. The clapper didn't live too long under the strain of the hi comp cleveland so I went back to the PMGR but still had to use a spacer, probably had something to do with the aftermarket flex plate or maybe the crank thrust setup put it a little to close to...

Dropping the rear axle - does anyone have any tips?

If you plan on hammering it from time to time may I recommend a bearing cap support type diff cover. They do help the diff live longer. Some people call them a "girdle" type cover. In any case, glad you got the gears now get the speedo calibrated after you put on your new tires.
