    '76 Cobra II 4 cyl??

Congratulations! (I'm jealous since I never see Cobras for sale around here :( ) You also traded a car that is still depreciating in value for a car that is starting to go up in value. Have fun with it, my first II is a 2.3 car and I've had a lot of fun with it. :)

    '76 Cobra II 4 cyl??

Things to look for: Check the fifth digit (letter) of the VIN located on the dash panel and on the door tag, if it is an original 4 banger it will be a "Y", a 302 car has a "F" If the VINs on the door tag and the dash panel don't match (I've seen a few times) there are steel tags welded on...

    question about the mustang II

Wow, more new II owners :nice: Welcome to the II forum, The Cobra II and King Cobras were special packages offered on the Mustang IIs. These cars are the most in demand today, especially the King for it's limited production. Bascially they were hatchbacks equipped with the front and rear...

    Like my handle suggests.........

Welcome to Stangnet's II forum :) The Ghia is a particular model of II (designated by the 3rd and 4th digits on the VIN which is "04" for Ghias) Basically the Ghia is the "luxury" version of the hardtop (coupe). Notable features are the 1/2 vinyl roof and from '75 on the smaller "opera"...

    Rocker Panel Rust

I think the handiest tool for you will be the angle grinder. I use mine now for a lot of my sheetmetal work including some cutting. The dremel will work but boy they eat up cutting discs fast when working on our cars. I found buying a thin cutting wheel for the grinder was more economical in...

    Swapping engines and Suspension Question

On my 2.3 car I installed a T-5 out of a '84 Turbo Coupe and used the original RAD bellhousing, clutch and pressure plate on the T-5 (direct bolt on). You will need to massage the shifter opening as it's about 1 1/2" further forward and you may have to slot the holes on the transmission mount...

    MII Seen on TV.

One of the local cable companies (Shaw) has a TV comercial where a city is deserted except for a crowd around one building. Right in the middle of the street is a Ghia. Of course I spotted it...it's exactly like mine (tan with brown top) :nice:

    Restoring door panel question

Thanks for the replies, right now I'm leaniing towards using the chrome tape. I've never had luck with silver (chrome) paint in terms of durability..always seems to rub off on your fingers with time leaving tiny silver spots on everything. 78CobraII: The panels definetly aren't factory...

    Restoring door panel question

I'm in the process of re-doing the door panels on my latest '77. I've re-dyed them but the chrome trim is beyond hope. This is a standard set with the trim in an oblong around the door. (see pic) Right now I'm thinking of either peeling the remaining chrome/plastic film off and either...

    Rear disc conversion

Nice set-up but more than I could afford right now :( Here's a low-buck set-up. I am connected to this one...finger's crossed it all works well :) http://www3.telus.net/carstairs-cruisers/GT140/drive7.htm Francis

    Black centered caps ?

Hmmm, possible but if it was swapped they did an absolutely perfect job. Cap looks identical on the inside and none of the mounting tabs have been touched  Here's a pic of the cap beside a standard one, part numbers cast on the back are the same (D6EA-1A096) except it is marked "R7"...

    Black centered caps ?

On the '77 I just bought, one of the center caps has a black center with two silver stripes. Basically it's like a "starburst" center except black instead of red (for the styled steel rims) I've never seen one like it before, any idea what it is off of? Mustang, Pinto, Bobcat, Capri...

    One more in the stable

Wow, haven't been on a while..things look different  Steve, Fired it up today (just needed a new ignition lock cylinder and the housing) Runs great! C4 is good too, not that I needed another. Yanked out the one on the Ghia yesterday and rebuilt it CORRECTLY this time..so far so...

    One more in the stable

 Indeed it came with a set of rear louvres, sadly they are the aftermarket kind and are real flimsy aluminum (they blew right off trailering it home but I stopped and got them out of the ditch). My daughter has already claimed them for her T-top car. Afraid it doesn't have a...

    One more in the stable

This has to be a disease! Haven't finished any of them yet but I couldn't resist picking up another :D It's another '77 with a 302/auto. Rough shape but for $100 CDN (~$75 U.S.) I couldn't pass it up.

    Possible source for Ghia emblems?

Jody, I'm not positive on the Pantera ones for size, (they might be the smaller ones with no pins on the back) If your patient a good set will eventually show up on Ebay...I searched for over a year, got sniped by Phil a few times then snagged a pair of NOS ones still in boxes with hardware...
