    Mustang Drop Spindles

Thanks Jim, I'll check with them, although I fear that even if they quote, their bulk price will be more than the SSBC retail price ($3 ea). I usually seek to get very basic (close to the source) with my kit parts. I know who made them originally (Rockford Screw Products) . Their incarnate...

    Mustang Drop Spindles

The second proto is being modeled, as are brackets for PBR SN95 and Cobra calipers. The knuckle will have an integral mount point for the 65-66 type KH caliper. On other fronts: I should have the first protos in my hand soon for the SN 95 bracket for Granada spindle. My 65-66 KH based...

    OEM disc brake upgrades?

bnickle; As I said before, the frictional characteristics of the rotor and the wear of the pads are not significantly affected by slotting the rotor. The area cut out of the rotor to make the slot is not significant. Also, the deglazing you mentioned would implies that the slot scrapes the pad...

    OEM disc brake upgrades?

The gases are primarily water vapor from wet road conditions. The frictional characteristics of the rotor and the wear of the pads are not significantly affected by slotting of the rotor.

    Spindle help!!

    1) The diameter of tapered stud on the 70-73 type is slightly smaller. 2) Both spindles use the same aftermarket nut retainer. Again, I have reason to doubt the TCP manufactures the 68-69 Mustang spindle.

    Quick Granada swap Q...

You can do that, but I don't see the advantage. The assembly weighs nearly 50 lbs. Besides, the mounted spindle is a good steady assembly platform. My customers tell me it takes a weekend to do, most of that on the first side. Be careful not to contaminate the pads and rotor with bearing...

    Mustang Drop Spindles

I haven't examined one of the Baer pieces, but from everything I've heard, you are correct. If they use the same bracket as the Cobra piece, there will be no problem with mounting them on my spindle using the Cobra adapter. The adapter will not be expensive.

I'm also a bit confused, that is by the mostly argumentative nature of the discussion. I understand your inference about the SN95 rotor. It suffers the same problems as the Cobra rotor does upon application to a SN65 spindle. I will not be using it with the SN95 caliper application.

    Mustang Drop Spindles

For all of those who have called into question my design and business decisions, I have a business strategy that has worked for me in the last 2 years. I intend to produce excellent quality economical brake conversion kits for our early Mustang. I will design and manufacture them in a way that...

    Mustang Drop Spindles

Ford obviously did not constrain themselve by considering 65-66 applications when they designed the 94 SN95 and Cobra applications. Why is it "interesting" that the SN95 spindle has different geometry than the early ones. My comments about "rotor disc resides over an inch further outboard" refer...

    Mustang Drop Spindles

I've looked at the Cobra brake situation carefully. This has affirmed my decision to cast an integral universal caliper bracket into the drop spindle. I examined 2 popular brackets offered for adding Corbra brakes to Mustang drum spindles. These place the caliper and rotor unnecessarily outboard...

I will be designing a hub to go with that bracket/caliper/rotor combo. I can't honestly or accurately say when this project will be done. I have MANY irons in the fire.

    Mustang Drop Spindles

I don't see this as narrowing caliper choice. It just means that the caliper brackets will need to be designed to fit the CSRP brand spindle. With all due respect Rusty, there is absolutely no market for drum brake conversions/upgrades. My take on the member's objections is that the...

    Mustang Drop Spindles

Bryan, Here comes the stark capitalism. I hope you will appreciate the honesty. I do this work to make a living. In doing this I need to fulfill the needs of the market. It is my determination that, in this case, the market is for a spindle product that allows for the use of wide and large...

I will make an add on bracket to allow the use of the cobra caliper and rotor, although I don't see this as the primary market.
