    id jack up the front end and check it out, should find the prob pretty quickly that way. i had a noise like that and it was a bad ball joint.

    yes the flywheel on the 85 gt is smaller than (86 to 93) the 85 has a 10inch flywheel and the 86 to 93 has the 10.5 inch flywheel.

    ya check that and if it fails i would look for a ground wire shorting out on a peice of metal.

    pretty simple unbolt the intake manifold and the cfi setup and get it out of there. then buy an aftermarket intake and carb. bolt it on and away you go.
