    Wiring Question

If twisting the bulb blew the fuse, I would say the housing wad already grounded... You might need to replace the springs and insulator plate inside the bulb socket/housing if they are original.

Changing Oil Pan - Gasket is a PITA

I was thinking the permatex tack stuff. It gets tacky a lot faster than the RTV - just to hold the thermostat. Cool idea about the rubberband! I might give that a try. Thanks.

Changing Oil Pan - Gasket is a PITA

Yeah, I thought about using something like that AFTER I realized the Silicone type sealer was helping the rubber end seals push out of the grooves. by then it was too late because it would have taken too long to clean up the grooves ... and apply the new permatex,... and let it tack... Anyway...

Changing Oil Pan - Gasket is a PITA

I thought I remember reading a post a while back about the one peice only compatible with certain year pans. Anyway, I'm gonna fire it up in a little while, I had to change my waterneck & gasket too. Slight leak with the crappy aftermarket polished waterneck POS I had on there.

Changing Oil Pan - Gasket is a PITA

I replaced the oil pan because my old original one was kinda banged up and I couldn't get the dang plug to seal up. I tried those oversize thread plugs and nothing worked. Anyway, I got a new pan and when I got ready to set it up in place, the end seals were just giving me a fit. They did...

    Electrical issue- help please

One side of the oil light gets Ground when the oil press sender unit senses low oil pressure. From what you are describing, this part is working correctly. The other side of the lamp gets 12V only from an ignition source. Somehow, battery power is making it's way to this point.

The resistor takes the place of the Alt warning lamp (idiot light) here is the diagram with some explanation:

    1969 Mustang Starter Solenoid Wiring

maybe this will help: The "S" terminal recieves the cranking signal from the ignition switch through the Park/neutral safety switch or clutch switch if equiped. The "I" terminal sends full 12V back to the coil while cranking for better starting. once running the coil then recieves the...

    Modifying shifter for AOD?

As stated, you don't need to change the shifter. I had to bend and adapt the linkage/rod a little. Eventually I built a new rod from 5/16" rod and heim joint ends. Sorry, I don't have any pics. Here is a pic of a bracket I made to make the Lokar TV cable work: Trans end:

    How to install Edelbrock #1404??

Here is a pic of a cable (like the one above) hooked to my 1404:

    Horn Problem

You can do troubleshooting without an ohm meter. See if you can find connector "C". It should be a 4-way plug with the blue-yellow along with a brown, Green-red and red-blue wires somewhere in the engine compartment near the voltage regulator. See what happens when you try it with it...

    Horn Problem

If you are heating up the wires that indicates a short to ground. Look at the blue-yellow switch output wire. With it disconnected at the horns, Use a meter and check for ohms to ground on that wire and then disconnect the firewall connector and then the column connector. Maybe you can isolate...

Major electrical upgrades, DOUBLE CHECK MY WORK!

No, I'm sure the 10 ga is fine, but it should be fused at 30 amps, 40 tops, but 70 is too high for 10ga wire. Why to you have the extra B+ going to the alternator from the fusebox? The 3G only requires the ignition sourced exitation voltage and the sense line is optional. You can tie it...

Major electrical upgrades, DOUBLE CHECK MY WORK!

I think you should use bigger than 8 ga from the dist block to the starter. The starter is the single highest current draw component of the whole system. On mine, I ran a 1/0 from my trunk battery directly to the starter and then a 4 ga to my distribution block which is in the original...

    electrical gurus in here....

You didn't say, but remember the diagram is for a mini-starter application only. A standard Bosch type 30A relay with 12 gauge wires for the power/solenoid side (terminals 30 and 87) and 18ga wires are fine for the coil circuit.(terminals 85 and 86) I removed my solenoid when I installed my...

    electrical gurus in here....

In order to delete the solenoid, you will have to swap to a 5.0 type starter or sometimes refered to as a mini-starter. It has the solenoid built in. A smaller Bosch type relay will still be required. Fuselinks can replace fuses. They are sized 2 gauges smaller than the wire they are...

Sticky suggestion: Header Thread w/pics, model #s, and mods

'65 Mustang, 5.0 w/AOD Transmission, Manual Steering, Stock Motor Mounts, Ron Morris AOD Crossmember. Hedman Headers Elite Shortys, Part#: HED-88408, 1½” pri, 2½” cone out I didn't want the hassle of possibly modifying long tube headers interfering with the wider AOD trans. I relocated the...

    TV cable bracket modify

The placement of the pivot on the carb depends on the length of the arm on the trans TV shaft. Measure the amount of throw on the trans and compare it to the distance on the carb lever. You may need this: On mine it worked out where I could use the existing hole on the Edelbrock and I...

Northern Radiator & Taurus Fan install

I don't have much input on aftermarket fan controllers, but here is a link to the DC Controls. The second one has the variable feature. My upper hose is now a stainless steel flex type and the bottom I just walked through the local autoparts isles looking for the right diameter with the right...
