    LOL, that was a hell of a write-up, and I must say, right on the money. Just happy to get some things accomplished and to know that the axle "should" go on without any other problems with the new hardware, and the passenger side hole ground out a little more.

    Get the rubber embossed gasket. I tried the silicone route- didn't work out too well. As for the bolts, I don't know, thats your call. I would lean toward the helicoil, to keep the same size bolts all the way around. The last thing you need is, in the future, to accidentally try to start one...

    just a tip, drain the pan with the plug, and put the plug back in. Then let the SOB sit for about an hour or so if possible, because the thing is still gonna drip a ton of fluid back into the pan. Kinda eliminates some of the mess involved in messing with the AODE.

    spray the hell out of the dowel pins with PB blast. Mine were a pain in the ass because they were rusty and did not want to slide out easily. In fact, one dowel pin stayed in the block, while the other went with the tranny bellhousing.

    Hell, the guy that I go to just puts the damn sniffer on, and then did his visual afterwards. He really didnt care much since it passed the sniffer the first time I went to him. However, when the wife's egr was f'd, and the CEL was on, he offered to "help me pass" the test. :D

    the clicking noise is pretty faint, so you gotta listen close. Since you're taking everything apart, I suggest getting some sammich bags and separating the bolts from all the individual parts. and label them, of course. make sure to drain the TC before you pull it out-- it has a drain plug...

    That's what I'm assuming as well. Oh yeah, I would let the fluid soak in the converter over night. Especially if the converter is new.

    Yeah, when you put the new converter in, you should turn it a few times and listen closely for a light ticking or clicking sound. You should turn it until you hear it three times. Make sure you check out the rear main seal, because this is the time to replace it. Don't forget to properly...
