    Well it's best to use a lint-free cloth (if you have one available) ... I didn't have one handy at the time, so I was gentle and wiped with the rotation of the lobes ... You definitely want to avoid any abrasive type cleaner ... WD would work also ... as far as carb cleaner I'm not familiar...

    I've used brake cleaner and a linty rag before and it worked great ... I just reapplied the self-drying brake cleaner again after I wiped the stuff off. The cam always gets a good share of assembly lube anyway.
