    Your 5.0 is more of a "torquer" and the 4.6 SOHC or DOHC is a "revver". The Cobra 4.6 is not slow. I would suggest you go to the SVT section here and ask your question. I"m not being rude. Those guys prolly have better answers than us SOHC idiots. :banana:

    96-98 4.6 question

    I got my 97 with 53,000 for 7K. It's got PI heads and intake and many other goodies now and I'm putting down 249HP to the wheels. I got about $4,500 more in it with parts and labor. I'm ordering a tune, soon. I'm hoping for 260HP at the rear wheels. $12,000 for 260 at the wheels for a car...

    05 Headswap is do-able, but fairly complicated with the changing of the computer and what not, however you can put PI heads on there from a 99-04 GT and gain about 50HP to the wheels. Many threads on here about it. Search Headswap! Have fun!

    Yeah, but why not upgrade to 31. You're putting a new posi in it anyway. ?Go 31 on both. Cost isn't much of a factor.

    Hey Roush, I've been on Kauffmans website and it doesn't look like they send tunes out in the mail. Do they only do in-house dyno-tuning or could I order the xcalibrator from them with a mail order tune???

    Sorry, Mail-Order. I'm in Western PA. I'm making a trip to Lancaster in July and I would like to go to Kauffmans in Carlisle, but I don't want to wait that long. I thought I'd mail order the X-calibrator now, then go to Kauffmans in July and get it dialed in perfect.

    Here is an installation guide from dallas mustang: http://www.dallasmustang.com/index.mvc?s=SpeedCal_Inst I got mine from www.brothersperformance.com in December. It was 79.99 with free shipping. The speedcal stays attached to your speedometer cable and your cigarette lighter for power.

    MRVAX, did you get your car dyno'd after just the tune? I e-mailed MPH with all my info. We'll see what they come up with. It seems like they have very good customer service. I have seen other posts about them.

    Yes, lots of people here have done it. Do a search for headswap as stated above. Also, stock for stock or comparable mods, a 96-98 with the PI heads might put out 5-10 more horses due to a bump in compression.
