    Oil in an 01 Cobra

    I was using Mobil 0W-20 then switched to Redline 5W-20. There was no valve noise, I just wasn't sure about that 0W. I always use Mobil Filters. Frams are crap. As far as usage, I go 5000 miles between changes and use no appreciable oil, so I guess I'm lucky.

    Bassani Aft-Cat Catback

    Resonators are inserts in the tailpipe that quiets it down a bit. Take them out and it is a little louder. Supposedly no effect on performance or backpressure. No, it was not Street Competition.

    I installed a Bassani catback. It was easy, 1-2 hours, but it was a bit too loud for me even with the resonators in. Took it off and put a Borla on, which I find quite pleasing.

    Shorty Header questions

    The test results I've seen are always around 7-10 horsepower. Enough to feel. Also Bassani makes the mid length, and they make more horsies across the entire rpm band but mainly in the 3000-4500 range. I I did it over again I would go the Bassani route.

    Get the JBA's. They fit with the stock or aftermarket exhaust parts. Took me about 20 hours and many cuts the first time, 8 hours the second (exhaust leak, use Ford gaskets). While longtubes will get a little more power, they hang 2 inches lower than the undercarraige making manhole covers...

    Why do Cobras get low MPG?

    I just drove to and from St Louis at about 75 mph average with the A/C on. Averaged 26 mpg. Prior to all my mods (stock) I did the same trip and averaged 23 mpg. Mod it right, tune it, and gas mileage will increase.

    28 spline. At least that is what Paul of PHP told me. I hope he knows his stuff.

    whats better long tube or shorty headers?

    I believe August 2003 issue of 5.0 Mustang had an article on the Bassani mid-length headers. Put it on a N/A engine that originally had shorties and 3000-4000 rpm was 10-16 more horsepower with all other rpm's 2-6 hp higher. Not shabby.

    I had the BBK for awhile but it caused problems. Even after adjusting the TPS to .99vdc I still had to deal with the cruise probems and the idle problems. To answer your question it doesn't wear in. I went to the local hardware store with the stock spring in hand and found one the same length...
