    valvetrain noise

I'm reviving this.... I have Crane 1.7 pedestal mount RRs. NOISY is an understatement. :nonono: . I ended up taking them back off tonight... Combo: AFR 165 pedestal mount heads, stock rockers, stock cam and stock pushrods. Motor was quiet, quieter than it was with the stock heads as...

What are the shortcomings of a stock intake.

Sure, why not? If I had an 1986 SD car with flattop pistons, I would go with a nice set of ported Thumper E7s, a Tmoss lower and stock upper intake or if $$ allows, an aftermarket... like an Edelbrock Performer or similar [something idle - 6000] 65mm T body... all of which would probably come...

    10 holes - backspacing & bolt pattern?

Hey all, Have a guy that wants to buy my slicks mounted on 10 holes. He's using them for a '72 Toyota Celica with a 87 Buick Grand National driveline. [car is amazing]. He says the car uses the same 4 bolt lug pattern as a Stang. He asked me: "I guess I have to make sure that they...

    Cleaning out head bolt threads...

GRRRRR. I knew it was going to smooth. I was installing the rockers last night, and all's going well, had to add one shim to most [i'd say 3/4s] of them to get em to reach 18 ft lbs within 1/4 to 1 full turn, but not all needed a shim... then on the 2nd last set, I am torquing down the one...

Went to track tonight,,need your help

Ok, most good running cars should be able to pull a solid 20 MPH or more, from the 1/8th to the 1/4. With the 3.73s you were pulling 20 MPH from the 1/8th mile to the 1/4 on both the passes. With the 4.10 gears you are only pulling 19 MPH. And you had a tad worse 60 foot on the 14.40...

    Cleaning out head bolt threads...

Heads are on!!!! Well, I got a correct size tap, and just went in and out of each hole 2 times, then used compressed air to blow em out, then shop vac'd them all after.. Even the tap was removing gunk and junk from the holes. Just clamped my baby vice grips onto the end of the tap...

    How To: EFI to Carb

OK, so what do you do with the stock EFI charging system etc...??? You just leave all that stuff, and wiring harness intact, and use it how it is [with exception to the injector harness etc??]? Then just get different distributor, intake and carb, and the fuel system, changover, then go to it...

Went to track tonight,,need your help

I suggest trying the stock H pipe one time at the track, with the good suspension parts, and sticky tires, and just see. I went to the track a few weekends back and my big shiny new off road X pipe didnt do f%^k all for my MPH and definitely did kill off some low end torque to where leaving...

Went to track tonight,,need your help

With the 4.10s, what are your RPMs when you are going through the traps? Also whats is your 1/8th mile MPH vs your 1/4 mile MPH? Any decent running car should be able to pull a minimum of 20-21 MPH from the 1/8th to the end [1/4]. If its not then you're laying down up top, and it's very...

    repairing torque boxes

If you havent, consider Rick91GTs kit [RNH Performance I think the name is] as his kit came with an extra brace that goes on the under side of the floor/body, where the control arm itself bolts up, along with the support brace inside the torque box itself. His kit was a very nice kit, good...

8.8 upper control arm bushing removing from axle housing??'S

Take a drill with a 3/8" bit and swiss cheese the crap out of the rubber in them. To the point where the round part in the middle, along with the rest of the rubber, will fall out. Then I take a chisel and on the side with no lip, knock the ends inward all the way around.. so it looks like...

    T-5 Z-Spec Transmission?

I bought a brand new T5-Z in fall 2002. It's seen tons of street powershifting, 2 track visits with slicks and I drive the absolute fuzznuck out of it at the track. I was getting a bark out of the slicks on every upshift yesterday... It probably has 20000 KMs on it now. My take is that...

GT40P heads, Cobra intake, full exhaust, C&L MAF- only 196.70 RWHP on DYNO!!!!!- HELP

Stock cam isn't that bad and would work well with a 1.7 rocker. Bump the timing like everyone else is suggesting it will make a good difference. Does the car have the stock clutch fan? Ditch it. How about accessories? Smog pump still on? I know its only like 2 HP to spin it, but, every...

How far can you push a stock T5 Tranny

How far to push 28 spline axles?

I have witnessed 2 8.8s that had nothing more than gears and one an Auburn posi unit. First one was/is a Capri RS that ran multiple low 11 second passes and a fair bit of 60's in the 1.50s and 1.60s. It's a Renegade car now but still uses a built 8.8. The other is a buddies 89 LX. Rear...

    Longtube Headers vs. Shorties

I agree that every car is a bit different... I dunno. Back in 1997 I had a 1991 LX hatch 5 speed, had an AOD rear w/ 3.27 gears, M&H G 60 15s, U/D pulleys, a cone filter, timing, smog delete, no screen in MAF, no sway bar, exhaust was original, except for straight pipes in place of the stock...
