    Stock fuel pump ate it

It's defintiely the baffle, but since the OP said his is banging around in there, that means it's no longer attached to the tank... which means it's time for a new tank. I'm willing to bet the broken baffle along with running the car low on fuel is what made the pump crap out... it wasn't...

how common is it to pull out axle tubes?

Being welded may have caused the problem. Welding the tubes to the diff housing is a popular "upgrade" thinking it will strengthen the rear axle assembly... but being a certified welder has taught me that welding steel to cast iron actually changes the characteristics of the cast iron to the...

Hooked up my new sony x plod cd player and everything works but no sound?!

It's a pita but I always run new wires for the speakers and by-pass all the old factory crap when installing a new head unit... mostly because I also install new speakers/amp/sub while I'm in there.

    Need some pictures!

If you make a vid, don't forget about Capris. Here are pics of the three I own... and a link to a thread I started over at FEP with tons of Capri pics. Looking at Capris never gets old - Four Eyed Forums

Good thing done by 50Resto/Latemodel Restoration

Late Model Restoration is hands down the best company I've dealt with. I too have spent several thousand dollars with them and have only had a couple of problems among the MANY transactions.... and each of them was a non-issue because LMR made it right with no headaches or aggrevation. They...

    7.5 rear from 4cyl

Back in '84, I bought a stock 5.0 5 spd Capri with 170 hp. It could spin the tires easily and I pounded the guts out of it and power shifted often and never broke the 7.5 it came with. The physics behind my statement is if only 170 stock hp is enough to spin the tires, you could put 1000 hp...

    7.5 rear from 4cyl

A 7.5 will only fail if you get good traction. On the street without drag radials, you'll be fine because the tires will spin before the 7.5 will break.... however, if you take it to the track with some slicks or power shift like mentioned above, you're going to be picking up pieces.

    front dash speaker question??

I've been doing car audio for a long time too and if I were you, I'd put the MTX dash speakers back in, keep the door speakers and remove the rear speakers. I'd run all four of them off the head unit with bass blockers installed. (run new wires for each, don't use the factory wires ) Then I'd...

    hypothetical engine question

I wanted around 300hp with reliability and good street manners, so I went with the Trick Flow Track heat kit and couldn't be happier. Not tryng to sell their product, but it's a well thought out kit that's easy to install on a stock 302 bottom end. With some 24lb injectors, 70mm TB, 75mm mass...

Do you carry a toolbox in your Fox? If so, what's in it?

I was on vacation in Wildwood NJ (5 hours from my house) and at the end of the week and we had already checked out, when I started the car to return home, it ran for a minute then shut off. As it turned out, the fuel pump gave up the ghost.... bought a new one from a local parts store and...

Do you carry a toolbox in your Fox? If so, what's in it?

I usually don't carry anything but my AAA card, but if I make a long trip, I take everything listed below... it all fits nicely under my rear seat delete if I pack it in there the right way. 1. jumper cables 2. multi-bit screwdriver 3. flashlight 4. tire plug kit 5. breaker bar with...

86 5.0 Mass Air Conversion HELP! Do I have cruise?

I converted my '86 to mass air. The new ECU requires a signal from a VSS. IF you don't or can't install one in the tranny you have, there is no logic in even bothering running the wires from the ECU to the VSS that is just hanging there not attached to the tranny. Like mentioned above...

help! emissions test. needs manifolds and crossover

I don't think you're seeing the big picture... you're trying to pass emissions and you plan on putting an exhaust that is advertised as off road.... wow.

I Finally Went to the Track

An aluminum DS 'might' be good for a tenth.... if that. The vibration you speak of is NOT because you have a stock driveshaft (tons of Mustangs are running a stocker with no problems) it's because you have a stock driveshaft that either has bad U joints, the balance weights fell off or it's not...

    WHY?? not many early

The four eyed foxes have become very rare in recent years. They were not any worse than earlier foxes, but the majority have fallen victom to parting out, rust, neglect and the dreaded "aero-nose" conversion. I'm a regular at another site called Four eyed Pride... myself and other members of...

Backspacking question - I need help PLEASE

Let me get this right... if you had the rear end narrowed 1/2", that means you had a 1/4" cut off each end... then got custom axles...... so you could get 8 1/2" wide wheels to fit.......and you're STILL having fitment issues........... REALLY?!?! That has got to be the stupidest thing I've...

Bingo... looks like you forgot that tiny little umbrella washer that many think is not important... until the shaft falls into the pan. Lesson learned... the hard way.
