    I'm surprised that yours can wind that high. Mine hits the rev limiter around 6200. I see from your sig that you have a SCT tuner. Which may mean your limiter was bumped up.

    I would believe the keyword is "CA" as noted in your location. There really is not that much. When the oil is drained for an oil change it comes out a dark brown/black. I've never worried about it.

    It could be the radial plies in the tire(s) are separating. Does it sound like a lot of the semi tires that you pass on the highway? Get your tires checked out and see if they are balanced.

    Then it must have been a problem on every car that I've owned. I would think that it's the water from condensation inside the engine. Once the engine warms up, vaporizes the water, it hits the highest part it can go and condenses. Thus a white, milky substance on the oil cap.

    I would say anything but Fram. Heard too many bad things about them. Purolater, Ford or Wix are pretty good.

    Warm it up and when it starts to smell, poke around to see where it is coming from. If it's the heater core leaking it would be inside and leaking onto the front passenger floor.

    I've seen it on all my cars and am not worried about it. Don't know why it shows up but it does. I wipe it off and do not worry about it.
