    Stick a vacuum gauge to it, make sure it the imbalance of the engine, not a huge miss. Knowing m&r though, it's going to have an engine problem.

    I think it's probably from a shop or the previous owner that didn't understand how to adjust the vacuum advance. I've seen shops do it.

    :) I'd say your wasting your time honestly. Big heads and lots of nitrous for a stock block will get you the same HP. Get a real block or your totally wasting your time.

    Sounds like it could be an intake leak. Especially if it gets better as you rev it. A valve timing issue won't really go away when you rev it. The problem just speeds up.
