    I was in the Marines and the crap they use for their weapos is a joke. It was called CLP. The stupid thing is that they insist you use it and nothing else. We used WD40 (because it was the only other thing we had) on the weapons when we were on ship.

    did you just weld the seams together? I was also thinking about bending some sheet metal to the desired shape and welding it in place. Do you have any pics of the actual fabrication?

    I just read it over and noticed that you said that it was a convertable. I imagine you will have to brace it some since that is a important part of your framework. I am doing a coupe so I probly wont do any bracing.

    My pillar on the passenger side was rusted out at the door hinge. I had to find a donor. They don't make a after market panel for that. I haven't made the repair yet so I cant help you out on the tricks yet. I will take pics and post them when I do it.

    So I am getting ready to cut my roof skin off and am going to put bracing in my door jams where the tape is in the pic. Do you all think that that is enough bracing? I will brace the drivers and passengers side. I am not removing the whole roof just the skin.

    Empty Carb Bowls & Long Starts- ideas to remedy this?

    I had a car that did the same thing. You had to keep the RPMs up right after you started it or it drained the bowls and you had to prime the car with gas through the carb. Once it warmed up you could take your foot off the gas. I never figured it out.

    I know a couple of old timers that are into restoring old tractors. I dont know what the resale is but you can find them for a decent price. I dont know about after market parts either.

    you are supposed to heat the nut up with a torch and place the wax on the threads near the nut and the wax is supposed to seep in to the threads to lubricate the nut.
