    Daily driving with a C4??

No problem. I've run a C-4 for years in many cars, even in a Ranchero with a 351M engine! High gear is 1:1 just like 3rd in an AOD or 4th in a T-5. The loss of an overdrive gear will definitely affect highway MPG but should be negligible in around town driving. The C-4 is comparable in strength...

Need a heater core in Fla.?

Nope. Bypass the core and be done with it. Your A/C should work just fine.

    1972 302 block help

Actually your pan set up is an old Fairmont 302 1977-79. Long ago discontinued from Ford. Good news is several aftermarket companies make the rear sump dipstick-in-pan rig! :)

    1972 302 block help

The early 302 blocks were a bit thicker in the webbing and better iron was used too. Keep in mind they also used a 2 piece rear main seal and have no provision for a block mounted dipstick that a fox body pan requires.

Please help on C4, Pan fill dipstick problem!

The old C-4 confusion problem! If you have a pan fill C-4, Congratulations! It is the HD version of the C-4. It has a stronger case design that has 5 seperate bolts that bolt the bell to the case, not using the front pump bolts like the case fill C-4s do. It has basically the same internals as...

Twisted Wedge's on my Flat Top 86

I had TW's on my wagon with TRW 4 eyebrow flat tops. I only ran a Comp Cams 280H, the OOLLDD version with .498" lift. No problems at all. The paper work that came with the heads said .500" was the max with out custom notched pistons but I have seen others running .530 with out any custom...

    C4 speedo gear question

We are on the same page. Your present speedo cable was meant to "plug in" to the speed sensor which holds the speedo gear with a little hair pin style clip. Once you do not have the stock speed sensor the stock speedo cable is useless as it is one piece back to the speedo head in the dash...

    C4 speedo gear question

That piece you pulled out of the t-5 was most likely the speed sensor. They have the speedo driven gear attached to them just like the older style speedo cables did. If you have no need for the speed sensor after the c-4 swap you can buy an older style speedo cable set up that has the place to...

Where the hell can I find water pump/timing cover bolts and studs?

The studs you need are Ford part #s 388433s2 and 388434s2. I don't remember which one is the shorter one or which one is the longer one. They are a bit pricey, Ford has jacked up the price on them over the last year or so. Why they are so hard to find is that they are 5/16-18 thread on the bolt...

Do all stock 5.0s sit like this?

My 88 LX had a mild case of drag-azz after 170,000 miles. A set of Vogtland 1-1/2" lowering springs reversed the trend. The fronts sit just a teeny bit lower than the rear now. Perfect rake with just enough lowering too.

    Problems With Draglites

Sold my 15x7s to a 4 banger guy for the same reasons. Plus they made an awful clicking sound when I turned while backing up. Had to run 1/8th inch spacers on the front even after grinding the snot out of the caliper and bolts. Got 15x7 1/2 Centerline Convi-pros. Problem solved and they looked...

    speedo too slow

Even one tooth down would get you closer. Also see if you can swap drive gears on your tranny. Get one with the same # teeth as your old tranny and your'e back in business. On AOD's the drive gear is made on the output shaft, not replaceable. No one ever checks this before they swap AODs, they...

    speedo too slow

Speedos are not "off" by mile per hour, they are off by percentage. Other wise your speedo would be at a constant MPH error at any speed. What it sounds like is you have a different number of teeth on the drive gear on the new trans you swapped in. You can adjust this somewhat by changing the...

C-4 Guys need help case fill or pan fill? Bellhousing?

Pisgah, There are 2 different styles of C4 cases. The pan fill is considered the "heavy duty" style. They both, pan fill and case fill style, share almost all the same internal parts. The pan fill has one set of bolts holding the front pump in and a seperate set bolting the bell housing on. I...

    '69 302 into an 89 5.0 (fox body newbie)

The first couple years of Fox body rear sump pans {78-80 I think} had the dipstick in the left rear of the pan. Other than that the only other way is aftermarket Fox body pans that specify dipstick in pan. They are usually extra capacity pans too. I put a '72 302 in a Ranger that used the early...

    '69 302 into an 89 5.0 (fox body newbie)

Even if you solve all the other fitment issues you left out one more detail. The '69 block has no hole for the dipstick tube that the '89 block does. You either have to find/buy a dipstick in pan set up or drill your '69 block like your '89 is. The devil is always in the details isn't it?

Plugging air pimp holes in heads?

Air pimp??? :rlaugh: Purchase only 2 of the proper inserts from Ford for the front holes. Then plug the back holes with bolts or whatever. There isn't any good substitute for the OEM inserts to shrink down the thermactor holes to the proper 7/16 size that I know of.

Need a fender, where to buy?

When I wrecked my 88 LX the parts car I bought had Taiwan fenders on it already. They fit very poorly. Huge gap at the top of the door gap and MUCH hassle to get them to fit the OEM front cover. I have within the last few months stripped out three 4 cyl cars, an 87, an 89, and a 90. All were in...

Anyone experienced serious traction loss from rear bumper removal?

Crazypete, you are da man! :hail2: You lightened up your car in ways I hadn't even thought of! Have you had it scaled at a track to get an accurate weight on it ? Removing the metal behind the plastic trim?......Brilliant! :D I had my V-8 wagon down to 2600 lbs w/o me, 2840 with my big azz...
