    Might get a 86 GT...Difference in engine?

    I too would buy it for $3.5K, nice find and very clean (with the exception of the engine compartment). My completely stock '86 5-spd. with 100K miles ran 15.4 @ 90 in the 1/4 mile. I'm not sure how that compares with the '87, but if memory serves me correctly, it's pretty close in performance...

    mac pro dump ?

    I plan to purchase the full-lengths and a X-pipe with high-flow cats. I'm hoping that it changes the sound beacause I really like the simplicity and clean look of the dumps on my '86. Basically the pro-dumps have a loud, consistant bass sound in the cabin. I equate this sound to a drone...

    mac pro dump ?

    I have the MAC pro dumps. The sound is very annoying IMO. They drone like crazy at cruising speeds and are pretty loud inside the car. I suggest that you get a ride with someone that has them before buying a set. However, they are cheap so you can always just give them a shot. Mike

    speed density..won't idle below 1100 rpms...

    Since the weather change, my '86 GT has been idling around 1,100 rpm too. However, after a short-medium length drive the idle will settle down at around 800 rpm. It seems that the cooler weather has definitely affected the idle of my car. Mike

    Agreed Draggar! I will be installing a KB next summer. I've owned every type of forced induction on a variety of cars, the twin-screw/roots work the best on the street........basically they are more fun. If I was building a race car, I would install a turbo. Mike

    ^^^^ Is there a digit in the vin # or rear end that will tell me? It was my understanding that my car should have the 8.8, but I would hate to tear things apart only to find that my assumption was wrong. Mike

    86 5.0 questions

    Just like the previous posters have mentioned, the cylinder heads and the flat top pistons are the main issues with regards to aftermarket parts. Of course, SD (speed density) does not help with regard to tuning. If you are planning on installing better heads and a bumpy cam a later model...

    FRPP 93 CobraR Brake Kit in an 86GT

    ^^^^^^ I believe the FRPP CobraR brake kit comes with new spindles? It would be a great relief if the kit bolts-on to the '86 GT without any modifications. Mike
