    Make me smoke LS1s

LOL. Nah, we've only had to tear it down once after a race, and hopefully won't have to do it again (we were quite legal). It definately would get old in a hurry. Now back to someone telling me what I would and wouldn't do if this that and/or the other had happened... That "fact" is...

More ignorant rants from one who is quite ignorant on the subject at hand (go look up "ignorant" - I'm not calling you a dirty name...just telling you how uninformed you are). The 4.56s have nothing to do with breaking the tranny. At all. Although your math is good (and note the 7500 rpm...

Yup. Want to compare credentials? Need me to explain the word "credentials" to you? Bzzzt. I never said 4.88s were a "best" anything. Nor did I say 4.56s were a a "best" anything. Go back and get the quotes, Jeffrey. It's easy enough to do - I quote you all the time, just so folks...

mogs....5th in the 1/4 is a non-starter. Not really an option you have. There's a lot that goes into choosing a gear - much more than has been bantered about here. Certainly what is right for a n/a street/strip car will be different from what is right for a blown street-only car, etc...

    Make me smoke LS1s

LOL. For those that might be interested, IMHO, 4.30s are the best street/strip gear for a DOHC car. If you are of the drag racing persuasion, 4.10s are next to useless. 4.56s are too much for some, just right for some others. 4.88s are for the more hardcore types. All can still be quite...

    Make me smoke LS1s

Bzzzzt. The gearing I have has nothing to do with trannies, penile-extension boy. I have a strong tranny because I'm currently leading the NMRA F/S points and don't need to break a T5 in the first round. As for a track whore...LOL. Shipmate, my car averages well over 15k a year. If that...

    Mach 1 Dynoed @ 340.84 RWHP ! + Videos !

"Get that 60's muscle car sound in your Mach 1 with our billet camshaft kit." That's the lead-in for the ad that is linked. If that is a good reason to spend $2000....mmmkkay. To each their own.

Nightlife....I've run 4.30s in a daily driven 5.0 (my Coupe), but I had 28" tall street tires to help kill the gear. Unless you're willing to do the same, I'd stay down to no more than 4.10s. Certainly that is too much gear with Nitrous. LOL. Now we get to go have some more fun with Mr...

    Make me smoke LS1s

LOL. Ya ok. You tell em what they need and don't need (especially the new tranny part). I'll keep pulling the wool over their eyes with my steep-geared 3 1/2 speed (very silly statement), and I guess dream about having as many gears are your car. I like the T45. The only reason I...

    Make me smoke LS1s

Jeff....I am not going to try and convince you of anything. I said my peace, it is up to you to decide for yourself. I will say that 4.56s are pretty common in the n/a, enthusiast crowd. 4.30s are more common. Both are more than you'll likely see in any stock-motored F-body (especially...

    Make me smoke LS1s

LOL. Let me assure you that I could comfortably start YOUR car in 2nd gear. Or a stock 03 Cobra. Or a stock 03 Mach. It's not a big deal. At all. On the flip side, I can run first gear out to 35 mph. That's not earth shattering, but its not instantaneous, either. I can't help but...

    Make me smoke LS1s

No, 4.56s. 2400 rpm @ 70 mph. 28 mpg on the highway. Was 2.95 (similar to your Z06), now 2.92. None (that was a T45 problem). FYI, I now have G-Force components in my T5, which includes a 26 spline, GM-Style input shaft. We all have our opinion of what "ridiculous" is and what a "drag...

When it come to getting maximum acceleration out of a car, you can ignore the torque curve. HP and torque are inseperably mathematically related. You can figure one from the other. Always. However, HP is much easier to work with when trying to figure how fast (or quick) a car will be (unless...

Is your Cobra your daily driver? Could it be?

Not as much as it used to be, as we have a little Ranger truck that I drive to work and back quite a bit of the time now. However, the Cobra is getting more and more miles these days, and the odometer is about to hit 76k miles.

Can't find anywhere to buy cams for '98 cobra DOHC?!?

Much better to do a complete engine setup vice just the cams. You will pick up little to nothing with just a cam swap - and have a big bill to pay.

    how restrictring are the sidepipes??????

The pipes are going to do two 180 deg bends. I can't tell you much it will hurt - could even be unmeasurable vs a stock exhaust - but it WILL hurt. The only reason to do sidepipes is for looks. If that is what you are after, then go for it.

Couldn't predict that response. You have a wonderful day. :zoom:

dynoed my 01 today?? does it look right?

Cal Cobra's graph is very typical. Every stock DOHC graph I've ever seen has shown a dip in the curves between 5000 and 5500. To get that out, you need a chip that keeps the timing constant (usually 23-24 deg total) and a good tuner to get the fuel right.

    3550 into a 96 cobra

It's not bad, but you need some specific parts. Bellhousing: Either Lakewood (if you plan to go 11's or better) or a Tremec Aluminum bellhousing (cheaper, easier to install). Shifter: 3550/TKO have a specific shifter Crossmember: Tremec and/or D&D Performance sells a crossmember...
