    Wacky Tach

If my point dwell was too long, I would get a tach bounce @ lower rpm, too short and I got one up high.... I cannot explain your 3100 rpm bounce with this in mind in that it seems middle ground. The only other thing that comes to mind is that maybe capacitance had something to do w/ the rpm...

You running points? Check the dwell/gap. I had this problem, too... I then knew my points needed adjusting/replacement.

    What about 17x9s?

The +24 is the offset from the center of the wheel, not the backspacing. They measure the same thing from a different point of origin.

    Electric Fan Questions:

Just because you're moving from a water pump driven fan to an electric, doesn't mean you just got all that free horsepower... the load switches from spinning the water pump to spinning the alternator for all that extra current draw...

    Global West or TCP?

67 Mustangs came w/390s and fit tight, but they fit... 351w is a smaller animal and fits better than the FE... He said a 427 small block which would be the stroked 351. Typically w/the MII suspension, you can remove the shock towers and you can fit a modular in there... a physically bigger...

Let's discuss aluminum heads... BTW: Dumped the Chevy

Thanks for the discussion, I think I have a bit of a new understanding with regard to long rod benefits. I may look up Smokey's stuff. I would be interested to know what you eventually do.... good luck!

Let's discuss aluminum heads... BTW: Dumped the Chevy

It makes good sense... I guess I never took the time to scrutinize the idea before. I am of the mindset that airflow is caused by differences in pressures in 2 or more areas. You say that filling and emptying of the cylinder is done more by air pressure than piston movement; it is the...

Let's discuss aluminum heads... BTW: Dumped the Chevy

Oh yeah... from the AFR site: 165 sbf heads @ .550 are 246 cfm intake 185 sbf heads @ .550 are 273 205 sbf heads @ .550 are 301 more can be found @ their site: http://www.airflowresearch.com/ If you look, it seems that the rate of increase of air flow seems to decrease with respect to...

Let's discuss aluminum heads... BTW: Dumped the Chevy

Agreed.... thus the stipulation of 'all things being equal'. If you have two heads where the only difference is in the construction material (including compression, boost, runners, valves... whatever else), then the only differences realized will only be due to the qualities of those materials...

Let's discuss aluminum heads... BTW: Dumped the Chevy

he said they were "NOT stock heads" and that he was using engine analyzer 3.0... I'm not sure that I am so surprised that the bolt on Al heads aren't producing more than the cast heads ported to the max w/ larger valves... Isn't the general consensus that the iron heads (all things being...

    Global West or TCP?

There was a thread either here or on corner carvers that said it was near $3k depending on shock options.... I do not know the accuracy of the statement.
