Problems with 289 Engine. Looking for Help.

Tos, Thanks for the reply. Thrust bearings are installed. Rods appear to be al the stock ones put back. I'm basing that on their sequential numbering. They don't appear to be re-stamped. Would you consider shipping the crank if I paid for shipping and something for your trouble? Is...

Problems with 289 Engine. Looking for Help.

1965 289 C5AE block. Edelbrock 5.0 Performer heads. Performer 289 intake. When I purchased particular car from previous owner, the engine assembly was fresh from the machine shop in a bag. I installed the engine and shortly after its first start up/drive, noticed two problems: 1. Rod...

    # G alternator question

Guys, In this diagram, there are comments on adding washers to shim either the pulley or top mount to cure the squeal issue. I have a couple of other questions about this swap I haven't heard anyone else comment on: 1. Did you have to lengthen your lower mounting bracket as shown...

Hot front brakes after open track session

Historic, Forgive me, I'm slow. Can you please provide some additional information regarding the use of the sink drain. How it caps the tube or is attached? Do you have any pictures with the spindle turned out that will show your setup more clearly? Thanks in advance,

    Aluminum Driveshaft

I run a '89-91 Ford Aerostar. Paid $20 for it at the JY. It cost me $100 to have it shortened/balanced and $30 for new Spicier joints. BTW: Starting in '91, they have correct yoke to fit T-5/Toploader. Don't understand why more people aren't using them.

    13" Cobra Disk Brake Brackets

They are readily available. See this thread. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=493550 The Baer calipers are PBR's. Everyone wants these brackets (or at least the drawings for them). I offered the data and even to draw them up, but not one person has yet to provide the...

    cable accelerator for a 65??

Steel, Oh, that hole. Yes, I had to drill another hole (3/16" or so), but there is already a drill dimple formed into the dash panel. In reading your original post, I thought you meant a new hole for the pedal rod to pass through the dash. I can take a picture. It will look like any...

    cable accelerator for a 65??

Not sure what you mean about having to drill a new hole. When I converted from I6 to V8, all that was required was swap of pedal rod and throttle rod. To answer your question though, at the Autorama last year, Ford Racing had a '65 fastback with an EFI 5.0. They used a '69 pedal rod with a...

sn95 disc brakes on classic mustang?

Okay all, here is your chance to help this process along. The attached drawing shows what dimensions are needed from your drum brake spindles: A. In/out dimension from hub face (where the rotor seats, or the wheel stud threads become visible) to the machined face on the spindle where the...

sn95 disc brakes on classic mustang?

I offered CAD data of the SN95 caliper brackets, spindle, hub and rotor to Shaggy. Never heard back from him. I had to go through a couple other CAD systems, but now have the data converted to DXF. Have (2) files, 300k and 485k. I met a guy at the 40th anniversary celebration Ford held at...

    13" Cobra Disk Brake Brackets

Shaggy, I look for someone at work with ACAD on Monday and see if we have a translator at work. I'll get you this data one way or another. I agree. I don't suggest using disc brake spindles for this swap at all. I would only use drum spindles regardless of year. Yes, I am still using...

    13" Cobra Disk Brake Brackets

Steelhorse, Calipers, caliper brackets and hoses are all I used from a 2001 GT. They're lighter (being aluminum). They don't necessarly have more clamping force (as comparred to the area of the larger single piston in the Granada caliper), but they do offer more clamping area. I never...

    13" Cobra Disk Brake Brackets

Sorry, I messed up the picture attachments. The one labelled SNGranadaBracket.jpg is the GT-nada type that I made using a block instead of a welded assembly. The one labelled caliper bracket.jpg is the commonly available '65-66 bracket used to convert original drum brake cars to disc using...
