    Oiled air filters

    It passed the smog test yesterday. My son cleaned and re-oiled the air filter and let the catalytic converters warm up. He thinks though, that the real reason it passed was that the second tester left the car in first gear instead of third on the rollers. :shrug:

    My 67 coupe has a noticeable uneven height of the trunk lid on the driver's side. I thought it might be due to body work or something by previous owners, but while at John Force's open house, I noticed that his 65 convertible had the same uneven gap!

    Looks really nice but I always suspect things when there is a new paint job and an older interior, but that's just me. Did manual fast backs come with three speeds? I had a 65 coupe with a 289 and three on the floor.

    It's not a K&N air filter, but similar type. He did check the throttle body and it was clean. I did suggest that he clean and not re-oil it till after the test, but you know kids. Sometimes they just won't listen. :shrug: BTW, it's not a Ford. Its a (cough) Acura NSX.

    Is your engine temperature hot as in over 200 or something, especially in this cooler season? I hate to see you throw money at the car if the radiator isn't the problem.

    Try looking for a junk yard that specializes in Fords. There's one in Orange County in southern California where I found small pieces that no one else would even stock, even the dealers.

    This is not to brag, but I had a 1600 push rod Pinto with a four speed, two barrel carb, recurved disttributor, shaved heads, headers and turbo muffler that could outrun an original 240Z. I had all the work done at a speed shop for a very minimal investment. :nice:
