    recomendations?

Easiest & lowest cost way to beat your uncle's C6: 1. Put sugar in is gas tank. 2. slash his tires. 3. Use your ViceGrip plyers to crimp his gas line. 4. Cut 2 or 3 of his spark plug wires. 5. Drain the oil out of his engine & transmission. 6. Disconnect the throttle. 7...

    Environmental Package

The dealer's "environmental package" is worthless. I bought a car off a dealer's lot that already had the paint sealant, etc. on it. They wanted $600 for it. I said forget it, so the dealer knocked the price down to $0 without even much of an argument. I paid exactly what it's worth, $0...

Quality of 2005+ Mustangs? (versus 2004)

Glad you like your buddy's LS. I guess I'd say the S-197 Mustang's platform design was "inspired" by the LS & S-type's D/EW-98 platform. The S-197 shares some key aspects of such as the "frame rails" that are stamped into the bottom pan of the unibody which are one of the keys to the S-197's...

Quality of 2005+ Mustangs? (versus 2004)

While I agree with you that the S197 is "lightyears" better than SN-95, you are not basically riding on the chassis of the Lincoln LS. The Lincoln LS has true 4 wheel independent suspension with all aluminum suspension parts. The Mustang uses struts in front and a live axle in the rear, all...

255/50's vs 275/40's on stock rims?

Yes, you're missing something. The smaller diameter tires will never fill the wheel wells and they will never look right. You should go with tires that are the same diameter eg. 255/50.

    2008 Ford Taurus

As I (& others) have already pointed out the Duratec35 is available today in the Edge & MKX @ 265 HP and in the MKZ & Mazda CX-9 @ 263 HP. At the moment Ford is slightly ahead of most of its competition. This is because the D35 makes its 265 HP on 87 octane gas. Both the Nissan and Toyota...

What's the goal for your car?

I disagree with your disagreement. Unless you're Saleen, Roush, Shelby or a similar well know aftermarket company, it's next to impossible to find anyone who will pay you extra for a modified car.

    2008 Ford Taurus

My guess is the updated 2010 model year Mustang will dump the old 4.0L V6 and get a version of the Duratec 35. It will have at least 265 HP. The D35 is the engine that will be used in the 08 Taurus & is already in production & used in the 2007 Lincoln MKX & MKX & Ford Edge putting out 265 HP.

What's the goal for your car?

My goal is to spend as little as possible on it and not do any mods. That way I'll have a lot of $$ saved to buy something new in a few years. Mods may be a lot of fun, but they're the financial equivalent of flushing $100 bills down your toilet.

    special ordering new stang?

A special order is a high profit sale for the dealer. This is because dealer knows the car is sold the day it arrives. So it does not cost them anything to keep it on their lot. With cars the dealer orders for inventory they don't know how long they're going to sit on their lot. Every day a...

    wheels?

I'd guess the few people who have bought GT-500s are over on some dedicated GT-500 web site. For the rest of us, we've come to the realization that we'll never own a GT-500 so we no longer bother to come here to talk about them.

Quality of 2005+ Mustangs? (versus 2004)

And if you're buying a used Camry, make sure not to buy one from the years where the engine oil sludged up and blew the engine. Toyota finally settled with customers who were burned by the sludging engine oil. Funny thing is I haven't seen one word about this in the mainstream media.

Quality of 2005+ Mustangs? (versus 2004)

Build quality of the last SN-95 Mustangs was hampered by the fact that much of the tooling (dies to stamp unibody sheet metal parts) was totally worn out. The S-197 was supposed to be out 12 - 18 months before it arrived, so it was not planned to stretch the life of the tooling. I've heard...

GT-500s selling @ sticker will be common, very soon.

x plan cost for '07 gt?

You are major league confused. Destination charge is included in X plan price, it is just not listed separately.

    DYING OUT

At invoice price the GT-500 is a reasonable value. But at MSRP, let alone sticker + $20K ADMs, forgettaboutit.

    Ford to report record losses?

I'll give you a great example of media bias. Whenever Ford has a recall, it's big news. All night long there will be promotions for the local news "More trouble for Detroit, find out which of the big 3 has more problems at 11." Then when they finally get to the story it usually goes: "Just...

x plan cost for '07 gt?

This is not correct. You will pay the destination charge on X plan. What you do not pay is any dealer paperwork charges, like conveyance fees. X plan rules specifically prohibit paperwork charges. You should put in your request for an X plan PIN. With your PIN you will get a user log...

    DYING OUT

I'm the same way, now I really don't care about the GT-500 anymore. I'll never own one (unless used prices crash) so who cares? The window on "hot new cars" is really small. Look how the Ford dealers screwed up sales of the 2 seat T-Bird. The bubble has already burst on Chrysler 300s. 18...

    DYING OUT

The dealers are not going to give up without a fight. All they see is a chance to make a big profit today with no thought of how things will shake out tomorrow. I remember back to the Terminator and Mach 1 days. A local dealer got in 3 Mach 1s at almost the same time. The 1st sold...
