    Where does it read that Ford recommends ATF? I was always under the impression that ATF has detergents in it that eat away at your rack's seals. I actually learned that the hard way. I use what the same stuff the 'morons' use, power steering fluid.

    Get the gears first. I run D00E heads on my 351w. Unless they have hardened seats already, and unless the pressed in studs are converted to screw in, you'd be better of with some GT40 irons. But you'll appreciate some 3.73:1 gears better, believe me.

    That TB should slide off with the studs still in, i'm sure you know.. Do you have a vice you could clamp onto the TB and pull the intake off of it?

    The Ford crank is a cast piece, and I would THINK the reman. from the parts store would be on part with it. Have it mic'd to check the dimensions anyways. Their clevite bearings will work fine for you, and aren't too much change either.

    Mine is an 88, and it's an LX. I have always wondered just how many 88s (LXs and GTs individually) made it out before Ford's supply ran out. Also wonder if anyone knows a good 'cheap' place to get the weatherstripping besides eBay.? (Have the Harwood hood painted now also..)

    Do the bearing right like he said. On the cable, most of the aftermarket adjustable one stretch or break easily, if you go that route, get a good/well know one, not an ebay junker. If you go nonadjustable, nothing beats a stock ford one strength wise.

    I've had both, Vortech and H/C/I combo. Personally, I would do the top end of the engine first, and do it right. If you're not satisfied with that, or want to push the limits of your stock block/transmission, which you will be doing, drop that T-trim or the S/SC trim on it.
