6A ignition got wet, car won't start

Probably toast. Had the same thing happen to an MSD 6A box. Just rinsing off with the hose. Went to start and it smoked. So, yea, probably fried it. Is it a Mallory or an MSD?

    HiPo 289 Hot start problem

Disconneting it will not help, that will let the elec choke stay on all the time. The solinoid is not the best place to run an elec choke, although a lot of people do. You are getting ign feed back into the "I" term of the solinoid via the ballast resistor wire so it's not a full switched 12v...

    Fan Relay

I just caught this very problem on the Prostreet car on the headlights-no high beams after a front end rebuild. When I checked the dimmer switch it was so hot I nearly burned my fingers on it. One crimped connection was loose/high resistance. (Painless harness=no factory dimmer plug-done by PO)...

Weird Request Regarding 1966 Tubular Crossmember

Are the theaded holes in the frame still intact? If not, I can suggest a fix. It sounds like the actual cross brace is rusted away on each end, meaning that even with new correct bolts, there is not enough material to bolt it to the car? Is that right? You can buy a new cross brace. Which is...

    floors pans

a-turbo-stang, I've done the sectional pans a bunch of times, and in case where the rust through is not extensive, I have been able to graft the sectional in where it meets the seat riser and you can't tell it was ever replaced. THat on the front pans. In most cases I don't even use the whole...

    floors pans

Not in my shop (ripping people off on the labor). I've done 10-12 one piece floors, one on a 68 GT 500, and 30-40 full length pans. Believe what you want. It seems to be really important to you. I know what my customers get and thats that. I won't debate this further. It's not contributing to...

    floors pans

It sounds to me that they are trying to make a bunch of money on a one piece floor pan. It's certainly more profitable to do them due to the cost of the parts. But is not easier by any streach of the imagination. Getting hung up on the welds in the tunnel is reserved for show cars and thoses who...

    floors pans

I think the one piece floor pan is way more work than left & right full length floor pans. Yea, your must have fit perfect. THere is so much more to remove. And you have to fit the pan, mark it, remove it, drill the holes for the plug welds, put it back in and fit it right. It looks great but is...

Did you use a tool like this? Power Steering Pulley Puller OTC4530 You need this to remove and install. It can be a real pain even with the tool, and have seen the tool broken getting stubborn pulleys off. You may be able to rent this from your local parts store.

    Convertible Structural Integrity

There is no rust you know of...I'll see if I have the pictures on photobucket...what 65Rob said is exactly what you need to look for. WHat does the car do on a lift? Watch the gap at the top of the doors to the qtr panel. THe 71 we did had to have a RH rocker. THere is the outer rocker and an...

Another edition of the "identify these" game!

If I rememer right, the early guides will wear prematurly. THey were not hard enough metal? Not sure. So you would need to replace all the guides if you want them to be reliable and last a long time-again-IF it does have the old style guides that need to be replaced. If it already has the new...

Another edition of the "identify these" game!

Now, since they are EARLY TFS heads, you need to determine if the valve guides have been replaced, and/or if they need replaced. THere was a problem with EARLY TFS heads. THis "problem" is sometimes applied to newer heads when it should not be. THey fixed the problem a long time ago. I'm sure...

    Windshield Installation Cost

Yes, they can. But, it can be a real pain to do depending on how close the gasket is to the stud you are trying to put a clip on. THe bottom ones are especially hard. Sometimes all indications are that the glass is leaking, when in fact it's not. It's WAY easier if it's just the glass leaking...
