    First Engine Build. Need advice

? Never heard of pro performance...... If it's one of those fleebay deals, stay away. Try contacting Jim Woods at OpenDNS for quality parts at a good cost. He mostly deals with Probe Industries, but can get you anything from Scat, Eagle, Dart, World Ind. and so on. Another thing to mention...

    Actual flywheel imbalance weight, 28oz.in.?

Seriously, I would get a differnt flywheel. CAT is cheep chinese garbage that is prone to failure. You can call fordstrokers.com for a reputable billet flywheel at good cost. Either way you go, you should have the whole rotating assembly balanced with the balancer and the flywheel.

are these good pistons for .030" over?

First, has there been any deck milling done on the block yet (squaring/zeroing)? This would be key in determining compression height.

    First Engine Build. Need advice

This is completely false. There is no reason not to go with a 347. Buy quality parts (this goes for building any engine) and assemble it correctly and it will last as long as a 302.

    0 compression

I guessing the valve train was never measured for proper pushrod length, correct? You need to correct this issue first and then properly set the lifter preload.

what year block is the best to build

You can run a roller cams in flat tappet designed blocks. You either run a reduced base circle cam and stock style roller lifters(not recommended do to cam stability issues) or you can run a standard base circle cam with link bar lifters.

    CEL only at WOT? "lean"

Agreed, you NEED to do this. Read the plugs. Good idea. Not really good idea. This would be a band-aid, not affix. You need to find the cause. Do you know what your injector duty cycle is?

correct way to break a car in

Now where was the turbo part of your question? Your question asked about the 700 mile easy driving junk somebody told you. Roller cam, no break in needed, and of course you are going to need to tune it before you rape it.

    CEL only at WOT? "lean"

The base timing is a little high, but what you are describing sounds like a WOT lean condition. I went through this couple of month ago with my D/D. Are you using the stock in jectors with a million miles on them? There may be your root cause, it was in my case and I had the exact same symptoms...

what year block is the best to build

Have you ever tried to degree an alphabet cam? Obviously not....lobe events are all over the place, not even close to what is advertised. Not to mention they are made of inferior cam cores and use out dated single pattern profiling. Not true, 74-95 all have the same basic core with thin main...
