    Buying first SVT need some advice

    96's had some cooling system problems right at the start, but I don't know how to tell one that has been updated from one that hasn't by looking at them. Just from the mileage, I think I'd go with the coupe.

    As a technician, I've seen plenty of drilled rotors with heat cracks @ the drilled holes. It's not a certainty that every drilled rotor will develop these cracks, but it's more likely than with a non-drilled rotor. I haven't seen any increase in warped rotors when they're drilled &/or slotted...

    Looking at a 97 cobra

    I had the top replaced on my '90 LX back in about 2000. I went with a canvas top (looked much nicer than stock). New glass, new pads, etc. Cost about $1500 if I remember. This was in the San Jose, CA, area.

    Hmmmm...no real common issues that I can think of. Just the usual stuff, check for signs of accident damage, repaint, etc. On a ragtop, make sure the top goes up & down ok...can't really think of anything out of the ordinary. The only thing I didn't check out that bit me in the butt on my '97...

    Who's got dyno numbers pre & post screen removal with no other changes? I wouldn't be concerned with it on a driver unless there's a dramatic drop in performance.

    That was a fair PITA. I've never had the intake off before, & had never done it while working at Mustang shops back in the day. Book time is about 3.5 hours if I remember, & I was able to just barely beat it. Not bad for 1st attempt. And no spare fasteners! :D That's how I judge a successful...
