3G alternator, Mini Starter, and Battery Relocation

I got my fuse box from the place that builds them. It was an engineer test unit from a 2000 Neon. lol. My father-in-law worked there and got me a whole front harness and a crap load of wire and terminals to go with it. But anything like this would work: You mean the "I" terminal on...

3G alternator, Mini Starter, and Battery Relocation

Not sure what you mean. Neutral safety is accomplished by a switch on the transmission or the shifter between the ignition switch and the start relay. 3G alternators are not one wire alternators. The regulator is built-in, which cleans up some external wiring, but you will still need...

12 volt source in start & crank position

True, but the OP was asking about a point for 12 volts in both the start and crank position. As golf4283 stated, at the igniton switch the C (coil) terminal should remain 12V during crank. It's possible the 64 1/2 models do not. In that case you will have to wire up a relay as 67coupestang...

3G alternator, Mini Starter, and Battery Relocation

There was a recent post on this and apparently people think you have to keep the solenoid. NOT TRUE. I have done it. Here is another post on mini starters and wiring (and confusion) Here is how to wire it:

    Ignition switch

Get a test light and start with the battery input at the plug. If good, plug it up, turn it on and check ignition out at the coil. If no test light, then something is not right with the plug or switch.

    New member with wiring question

You mean ACC (Accessory) The radio is already powered by the acc key position. It also send power out to any accessory that is wired to the center pin on the back of the ign switch. I think wipers are tied to it too.

    New member with wiring question

I have done this - not on my Mustang, but on a couple other vehicles. You will need to wire in a charge relay. It energizes with the ignition circuit and charges the battery while running, but when the key is off, it will deenergize and isolate the Aux battery from the Main battery. I would...

Good place for a mini starter?

This is where I got my mini starter: High Torque Ford Mini PMGR Racing Starter 302 351 NEW It's been working good for a couple years so far.

    How to eliminate solenoid?

Yes you can. I have a PMGR mini-starter and ditched the big solenoid. The high current switching provided by the old bulky solenoid is no longer needed. A smaller Bosche type relay is sufficient. I put mine under the heater and ran the wires through a grommet. With the MSD setup, you don't...

1966 pass side stop lamp not working..help with wiring needed

The wire that crosses over is for the park lamp circuit (and license plate lamp), not the brake lamp circuit. There is a single wire going to each left and right lamp for brake and signal function. If the turn signals work, the problem is in the signal light switch behind the steering wheel...

    Starter Stays engaged

I agree. Do this to determine the possibility the starter is hanging up mechanically, not electrically Is there a chance?

got to buy a compressor - need your advice pls

I think all three listed are Oilless. Here is the one I got. Its more than you said, but this Campbell Hausfeld has been great for me since 2001. It runs on 240V so you will need to have a dedicated outlet wired in. I fastened mine to the garage floor with rubber/wood pads that I made...

    Spal fan Problems

Ha Ha, No. Normally I use a powerpoint of a similiar circuit I already have. I've never used Visio. Once Harndog said he got the fan relay kit from Mustangs Plus, I went to the web site and found it. The diagram above is a cut out of the instructions that are linked there. Yeah, I hear...

    Spal fan Problems

Disconnect the grey wire from the sending unit and touch it to ground with the key on (engine not running). If the fan runs, the sending unit is bad or not getting a ground (too much teflon tape?) if it doesn't run: Listen for the relay clicking. If it clicks, get a voltmeter or test...

    Antenna Replacement?

No, just pull the wheel and the splash shield. There are about five or six 3/8" head screws on the inside. You might have to chip away any dirt, rust or undercoating to find them all. One is located under the hood by the hood hinge. Once you get the shield out, it's tight, but you can work...

    1965 Turn Signal question

On the back of the steering wheel hub, there should be a ring with two ribs on it. The "release fingers" on the turn signal switch hit the ribs to cancel. If these are broken, missing or out of place, the turn signals will not cancel.

    Fuse with Powermaster anybody?

There have been instances of underhood fires when a diode in the alternator fails and shorts out. It is less common with new alternators, so a fuse is simply cheap insurance.

Can someone tell me which fuse is igntion hot on original fuse box?

You could use something like this for only $15: You could run a 8 or 10 gauge wire from the solenoid or your 3G. I soldered the wires onto the tabs though. That eliminates any potential loose connections from the crimp and the slip on spade terminal. Here is the auxilliary fuse box I...
