    Screw the dealerships...

As they say, "It doesn't hurt to ask". It doesn't appear that all that many people are willing to pay $20K markups let alone a $65,130 markup. I really like how that dealer has his asking price @ $109,995. Obviously $110,000 is way too much to pay for a GT-500

    05 4.6 3 valve

If you lock the VCT you will need to choose where to lock it. You can lock it at max power position (high RPM) at the loss of low end torque. Or you could set it for low end torque at the loss of high end power or lock it somewhere inbetween. What you will loose is the broadened power curve .

    Used '05 Mustangs...

I agree, many dealers paid too much for used 05 GTs when new GTs were in short supply. But keeping a car sitting on a dealer's lot costs $$. Sooner or later they have to suck it up and do whatever it takes to sell the car. Here are some sample ads I just pulled: This dealer needs to...

    Used '05 Mustangs...

Lots of used 05 GTs sitting on dealer lots around me. The same cars have been sitting there for many months, some since January because the dealers are asking insane prices for them. In some cases the dealers are asking more for used 05 GTs than what you could buy a new 07 GT for.

Ford Going Away, what to do now

You're forgetting one very important item. In the 1990s when the stock market had incredible gains, many companies decided that ther DBPPs were "over funded" and were allowed to remove huge sums of money from those plans and were allowed to operate under the assumption that 15% / year market...

    AutoX in an automatic

    Why didn't you just buy a manual? But seriously, the easyest thing to do is to just compare the gear ratios between the 4R70 and the 5R55 5R55S 3.22 2.29 1.54 1.00 0.71 4R70. . . . . 2.84 1.55 1.00 0.70 So you can see 1st gear is much taller in the 5R55 and 3rd, 4th & 5th...

    If any one is interested..

One of the reason's why Ford is so screwed up and is loosing billions of $$ is because it views it's dealers as their customers, not the people like you & me who actually buy and drive the cars. Ford plays games with availability of models like the T-Bird and GT-500 to help the dealers charge...

Got into Oval Track racing with my 05gt *vid* inside

Great Vid, congratulations. Love seeing that Mustang V8 acceleration.

Has anyone ever tried plumbing their AC into their intake?

I doubt that the A/C can flow enough air to feed the engine. So you'll have a double loss, 1 from the power drain the A/C has on the engine and 2 from restricting air into the engine. Don't forget that most cars (& I'd imagine the Mustang too) shuts off the A/C at WOT so you'd have to hard...

Exhaust leak + rattle to Dealer = Cross Member Vibration

It all comes down to $$. The system of paying techs a flat rate for any repair job (rates as determined by Ford ) ends up under paying the techs in many cases. The primary objective is to get the car back to the customer in the least amount of job time rather than properly diagnosing & fixing...

Went to a Local Car Show and Was Surprised to See 3 GT500s...

Grabber Orange looks great. What looks hideous is that prop rod on the hood. Makes the GT-500 look like a $15K POS Focus.

    Sirius Radio

Unless Sirius has changed the "lifetime" contract, you can transfer it up to 2 times to different radios. IIRC it cost $50 to do the transfer.

    Do you like your automatic?

The 5R55S auto trannie that the 05+ Mustang uses is an updated version of the 5R55N that was used in the 00 - 02 Jag S type. In 2003 the S-type switched to a ZF 6 speed auto for the V8 (may have still used the 5R55 in the base V6 model). Starting in 2004 all S-types got the 6 speed ZF. The...

GT Throttle Lag-Has Anyone Tried This?

I read a thread about this a long time ago, don't remember if it was here or on another Stang site. A bunch of people tried it. Some said it made a big improvement others said there was no difference.

    is it a real Shelby?

I tend to agree with your assessment. If the Terminator Cobra was a $35K car, then the GT-500 should be a $40K car at the most. But being successful in the car business is about hype and over selling. I really don't understand how anyone would pay >$100K for a Porsche or >$300K for a...

    is it a real Shelby?

The original Shelbys never sold for above sticker, so why should the 2007 Shelby? Back in the good old days, Shelbys were hard to sell. Leftover 1969 Shelbys were reworked to make them 1970 models.

Amazing what some incentives will do.

Thanks to the Ford incentives ($1,500 rebates or 0% APR), lots of inventory and more dealers who are finally willing to give reasonable discounts on GTs, the Mustang had its highest sales for the month of August since 1979 ! 17,933 Mustangs were sold in Aug 06, not as good as the...

    is it a real Shelby?

It's a SVT Mustang with Shelby's name & approval on it and a couple of Shelby design suggestions built in it. It is every bit as much a real Shelby as the 1968, 1969 & 1970 Shelby's are. Those cars were mostly designed by Ford and built by a subcontractor (A.O. Smith Co.) in Livonia, MI...

    Ford cut backs

If you placed an order for an 07 I bet that Ford would accept it. What Ford is probably doing is refusing dealer stock orders for dealers who still have a lot of 06 inventory. It makes sense to me, give the GT allocation to the dealers who don't have inventory.

    2008 Redesign?

While I agree with you that the 69 - 70 Stangs are the best looking, I don't understand how you can say the 05 - 07 Mustang is too long. They new ones are the same length as the 69 & 70s.
