    The problem with production cuts is that the Japanese & Korean brands keep upping production and permanently take away market share from Ford. Ford's market share has dropped by close to 10 points in the last 10 years, not good. As Stan just said, Ford keeps shooting themselves in the foot...

    Eventually almost every FoMoCo vehicle will have NAV available. The Lincoln LS & Navigator use a very nice Denslow DVD NAV. The Mountaineer / Explorer, Lincoln Zephyr & I think 500 / Montego have a Pioneer system that I don't like. I belive the Fusion & Milan will also have NAV available...

    The SRT-8 is simply a version of a car already in production that sells a fair # of units. The Challenger is going to be limited production. Just to pay for the body tooling they will have to charge more since there will be fewer units to amortize the tooling cost over.

    If your payoff as of today is $10,800 and as of today your dealer will give you $12,000 for it, that means you come out with only $1,200 as your net trade in on a new Mustang. Of course come next April things will be different.

    I'm with bigcat, how can the dealer give you anything for a leased car? The leasing company owns it, you don't. When you turn in a leased car you get nothing, you have no equity in it.

    Frame Rigidity

    S197 is much more rigid than an 03- 04 Cobra. Basic unibody on the Cobras is the same as a regular SN-95. The 03-04 Cobra has some whimpy bolt on sub frame connectors that stiffen it a little but not in the same league as a A197.

    As srothfuss said, the engine is big and heavy. The engine is responsible for 250 - 300 lb of the difference. The iron 5.4 block +100 lb huge 4V heads, 2 more cams, longer timing chains +70 to +80 lb S/C & SC drive belts pullys, intercooler +80 to +100 lb Heavier internals, longer rods...

    Don't blame only the unions. Management shares the blame for agreeing to those union contracts and for making many bad product & marketing decisions over the years.
