    Spolier or not to spoiler?

wings are for airplanes. i don't remember a wing on a 65-68 mustang. i think it looks like an after thought, and personally will order mine without it.

    stupid BG tech support

thanks guys, i read that hangar18... website and it is exactly how i modified the holley 600dp that i plan to use. i also believe that a MD650 will work without the throttle shaft modification since that really only becomes a problem with worn baseplates or high boost. thanks for the book...

    stupid BG tech support

rbohm i think i understand what you are saying but let me see. when you say "make a baseplate" you mean like a spacer between the carb and manifold where i can tap it for vacume lines? i agree to that a new carb shouldn't need this mod. are you familiar with boost referencing a dead head...

    tuning vacuum secondaries

idle i had a similar problem, with the four corner idle its difficult to get it set right. heres what i did: first i set the transfer slot and curb idle screw. then i turned all the screws all the way in. i found that only one of the screws was actually doing anything becasue it was...

I hope no one ordered this Color!!!

hideous clors yuck. barf green :barf: and powder puff blue. looks like shadow gray and black will be the popular colors. i wish i could get it in caspian blue to match my 65 or highland green, it would look just like the original bullitt it would make my decision so much easier. if...

    stupid BG tech support

i called Barry Grant today to get some info on what carb they would recommend for a blowthru SC. application. and they told me they don't make one that will work with that setup. i said well both ATI and Paxton say a holley 4150 or mighty demon will work, so whats the deal. he said that a...

    Compression Test Results?

typically an engine is considered good as long as each cyl. is within 10% of the highest. most high performance motors have a low cranking compression. so 120 to 132 is good. this number is determined by valve timing and has little if nothing to do with the static compression ratio. it is...

    Head gaskets installed wrong?

if your 289 is even slightly modified the three core probably isn't up to the task in that arizona "dry" heat. you could try an electric fan or a crossflow aluminum radiator. in our 65-66 the radiator is really small. so its not suprising that many of them run hot or i should say warmer than...

    Head gaskets installed wrong?

GREAT! all too often people fail to realize that front means front. its tough b'cus when you install them it seems as though one is always upsidedown. but thats the right way. glad to hear you avoided that problem.

    Head gaskets installed wrong?

it will faill within the intial break in period or about 30min. of operation. if you installed them incorrectly and realized it now before you started the engine be glad you did and take the time to correct it. i can pretty much gaurantee that your engine will not last long if you elect not to...

    Exterior Changes..time for a change

i just took the 65 grill and painted it black, removed all the emblems and used a 66 piece in the middle to tie the sides together. check out "my garage" for a pic

    Exterior Changes..time for a change

IMO GT sides stripes look better on the 65-66 and C- stripes on 67-68. i would consider some off white gt stripes and possibly shelby racing stripes almost like a pearl white matching the tones to the interior and main color of tropical turquise. if the car is to be repainted i would see about...

switching to an electric fuel pump

i too thought that that site was a little too conservative. the usual estimate for a 3/8 or -6an line is 450hp. but as allcarfan mentions in the real world math usual fails to accurately predict or explain what is actually happening and that is because in the real world there are too many...

dash i removed the dashpad and head slicer (dashpad support). then filled the blemishes and painted it to match my platinum gray stripes with basecoat clearcoat.

switching to an electric fuel pump

no that is correct it flows less volume at higher pressure. if you have higher pressure the fuel will flow faster but just as with a garden hose with a nozzel the volume will be less. think of it this way. to increase pressure you are essentially putting a restriction on the line. now the...

Carb to EFI swap; how much gain in numbers could I expect?

i agree with allcarfan. usually with efi more torque is developed at low rpm and less top end hp. for all out hp a carb is the way to go. however that is not always true some efi sys. that allow independent cly. tuning can be better than any carb setup.
