    N2O users please step inside

I just upgraded my fuel pump this morning, and I'd like to step up the nitrous on my Mustang. What's everyone's opinion on the nitrous power limit for a stock 5.0 liter? My current mods: NOS 05115 dry nitrous system(with the adjustable tee) Walbro 255 lph fuel pump C&L 76mm MAF meter...

    Fuel pressure questions

I just got done putting in a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump and a rail mounted fuel pressure gauge. What's the fuel pressure supposed to be, and how do I check it? The reading's I have now are 33-34 psi while idleing, and 39-40 psi while idleing with the vacuum line removed from the regulator...

    255 Walbro + stock regulator = ?

Any recommendations for one that won't mind being spiked by my dry nitrous system?

    255 Walbro + stock regulator = ?

I'm getting ready to order a 255 gph Walbro for my NOS 05115 equipped 1989 LX. Can I use the stock regulator with this pump? :SNSign:

    Ebay fuel pump?

Anyone running one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WALBRO-255-LPH-FUEL-PUMP-Ford-Mustang-Cobra-5-0-4-6-2-3_W0QQitemZ270060507759QQihZ017QQcategoryZ33555QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem They're touting them as better(quieter) than a Walbro. Does anyone have any experience with...

    429, good or bad idea??

The 1969 and 1970 Boss 429 was factory (unde)rated at 375HP. The standard passenger car 429 was 360HP.

    429, good or bad idea??

Nobody is disputing that a similarly equipped 460 will make less power than a 429, it's just that the difference is not 75-100 horsepower. More like 30 on a 600 horsepower combination. A 460 is only 7% larger than a 429. Whereas a 408 is 16% larger than a 351.

    302 for airplane

Automotive engines have been used in aircraft for many years. I used to work in the parts department at a Subaru dealership and we sold plenty of those engines to people building custom planes. I see no reason why a 5.0 wouldn't make a good plane engine. Dimensionally it's the smallest and...

Sorry I don't have any input for you. But, as a student pilot I'm subcribing out of interest.

Unfortunately the factory Ford fuel injection only fits 1988 and newer cylinder heads.

    429, good or bad idea??

All of the manufacturers underated their powerplants for insurance reasons back then. 429 SJC heads flow every bit as good, or better than, any Chevrolet head of that era. So I'm sure the HP was very similar. I severely doubt the 560 HP claim. Any proof?

    429, good or bad idea??

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe the only difference between the passenger car 460 and the truck 460 is the connecting rods. Everything else is the same. And even then some of the 429's, like the 429 Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet(which are more than a match for GM's 427), had those rods as...

    shifting gears ?

The key is having a shifter with really stiff detent springs. Like the Pro 5.0 or the Steeda Tri-ax. I've been able to easily powershift(no letting up on the throttle between shifts) using these two shifters, in various Mustang's, with much success. I've probably only missed half a dozen shifts...

    429, good or bad idea??

Actually, if you're building a BBF from all new parts, it's probably the cheapest big block out there. BB Ford's can be found in every junkyard for near nothing. Good luck even trying to find a used BB Chevy in a junkyard. And if you do, it's gonna cost ya. From there, pretty much all the...

    429, good or bad idea??

    429 = 4.36 bore x 3.59 stroke 460 = 4.36 bore x 3.85 stroke 1970 stats: 429 = 360 HP 460 = 370 HP I'd build a 429 for a light car. And a 460 for a heavier car or truck.

    shifting gears ?

All aftermarket shifters push the lever into the center position(between 3rd and 4th gears). So let the shifter do the work for you. Don't try to muscle it out of 2nd. Just push it straight forward(I use an open palm, which keeps you from forcing it) into third. As you're pushing it forward, the...
