    2nd Gear Downshift Missing/Backfire

Now that you mention it, it doesn't do it with TCS off. Also never does it when I'm shifting fron 1st to 2nd, even if there's wheelspin...just downshifting. I was thinking about getting some tuning done just to up the throttle response, minor adjustments.

    2nd Gear Downshift Missing/Backfire

If I do a high-RPM downshift to 2nd (putting RPM's at 4K+) to get on it for fun/passing, I sometimes get serious stuttering and even a small backfire if I do it too quickly. If I blip the throttle to match revs (not easy with the new ETC system) or slip the clutch a little bit, this stops it...

    exhaust question

Keep in mind that if you go with the Power Pack or Drag Pack, you're potentially voiding your warranty. I called Ford Racing's tech line and they confirmed that these parts MAY cause warranty problems, at the service shop's discretion.

What are the HP gains from a new exhaust?

Are you planning to go with a full replacement, including cats and even headers? Or are you just doing an axle-back (basically, new mufflers)? Or somewhere in between?

    exhaust question

Wake it up a bit more, put the FRPP mufflers on. :D Shop around for these, you can get a much lower price. Also, zoom in on the pic, Borla is stamped on them. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=7707

What mods can I do w/o voiding warranty?

You can take your car to ANY certified Ford dealership for warranty work. I didn't buy any of my three former/current Fords from the Ford dealer down the street from my house, but I go there for warranty work for the convenience. They've been very easy to work with. Will the dealership you...

What mods can I do w/o voiding warranty?

I went through the same questions when I modded my 2000 GT. It was a bit easier to tune, though. I had cat-back, CAI, and gears, factory tune, with no engine warning light probs. With those mods, I had no problems when I took it to the dealership for warranty work. Technically, ANY mods...

    Complaint Letter

I live in St. Pete and have purchased two vehicles from Freedom Ford: a 2000 GT and a 2003 F-150. Overall, the dealership was good to work with, especially on price. I think you just had a bad experience with this guy. This time around, I ended up getting my 2005 from Ernie Haire Ford in...

My Opinion - Flowmaster American Thunders

Fang, it will, just different than the older Stangs did with the Flows. No idea how the V6 would sound with SLP Loudmouths!

My Opinion - Flowmaster American Thunders

I've had my Flowmaster axle-backs on my 2005 5-speed GT for a week now. This is my first and, most likely, only mod for the car. Bought them for $299 at a local performance supplier and had them installed by a muffler shop I've used before, for a flat $50 fee. Here's my thoughts: -...

    trouble with floor heat

Do you mean engine/drivetrain heat coming out of the air vents? I haven't had anything like that. However, the tranny tunnel does get warmer in my 2005 than it did in my 2000, both 5-speeds. No heat "trouble" to speak of, though.

Did i waste $830 on the wheel upgrade?

I went with the 17" torque thrust style rims to save money and because I prefer the look. Also, I had crap tread life on the performance tires with my 2000 GT and wanted to stay away from a soft rubber compound, which I THINK you get with the larger rims. However, the 18" wheels look great...

Fit and Finish - How's your's holding up?

Agreed, I don't like scratches and dings either. But you can't let it take the fun out of the car. :) Paint's sprayed too thin? Take it in and have them repair under warranty! Don't stop til they get it right.

Fit and Finish - How's your's holding up?

Only way to prevent dings and scratches is to never drive the car. Mustangs aren't museum pieces, they're relatively cheap, good bang-for-the-buck performance cars that are also great daily drivers. Don't worry about the little things, just drive and have fun! Steel, if you had that many...

    Flowmaster Axle-Backs

OK, thanks for the input. I do want to hear a bit more inside the care, both at idle and at WOT. :nice:

OK, thanks. Looks like best deal is to get CAI/exhaust/custom tune all at once.

    Flowmaster Axle-Backs

I'm considering the axle-back Flowmasters with factory pipes. I've heard the video clips (which are so hard to judge) and they sound throatier and deeper to me, with a bit of "burble." I had 40 Deltas on my 2000 GT and F-150 and loved them. However, I've heard a couple of people say that...

4th month in a row of lackluster Mustang sales

Maybe they've moved a load of GT's south for winter sales... Use this link to Ford's dealer inventory search and type in 33713 (Tampa Bay). Large supply, including coupes...

    06 GT exhaust help

Dan, I've been leaning towards getting just the axle-back Flows with the stock pipes. I had 40-series Deltas on my 2000 GT, but I understand it's totally different now with no pipe after the muffler. What didn't you like about the sound? Was it not noticably throatier/louder than stock? Too...

4th month in a row of lackluster Mustang sales

Agreed. I waited to get my 05 in mid-October to get a good deal here in FL. That's the only way I could get any reasonable negotiation done. At the various dealerships I shopped, the sticker price was also appx. $1K higher for 06's vs. 05's with the exact same options. And in FL, forget...
