    Dude, I would at least test drive the 05 GTO. Sounds like you are getting a good deal from your dealer on the 06 if you go that route. Personally, (if I liked Stangs) I would save my pennies for the GT500 or get one of the 03 Cobras that folks are getting rid of.

    400 lbs and a bad driver? Actually, .6 sec is quite a bit. High-end cars will never be sold in the same quantity as a car that has rental-car or company car appeal (more options...base model). Have you ever seen a rental 'Vette?

    That is correct for the 05 model, the 04 GTO A4 is slower (slightly) than the 6 speed.

    Tsk, tsk, tsk...anger is such a bad thing. Why even think about bashing "base model" cars, especially the GTO? Continue on with your discussion...this is good (funny). FWIW, I purchased the base model GTO. Of course, the only option with the GTO is the color and trans.

    It is a great deal for the price right now. Probably the best thing is not everybody has one. I think they only made 12K of them this year.

    My dyno torque dropped 14 foot pounds when the temp went up to 95 degrees. LS1s don't do well in heat.

    Don't sweat it, I understand your situation. I like many models of cars and always try to keep up w/the competition. I didn't fare too well w/ a modded cobra at the 1/8th track this weekend. Must...buy...more...mods!
