Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter Vs MGW Shifter

MGW, quieter, somewhat smoother. More adjustment in angle, and you can immediately tell the difference in build quality.

Is there a trick to gettting the computer back in the kick panel?

I've gotten it down to a system, but took me about 2 hours to figure it out. Its one of those things you can't explain, but work on it enough and you'll find the trick. Just need to work around the white plastic box and get it in.

Does anyone have a diagram of the steering system?

Particularly the steering shaft where it passes through the firewall. Think someone was on to something when they mentioned a bearing that's retained at the firewall causing play.

    Airbag install?

I had to replace a set on my car, however the passenger unit sits low and a bit forward. I think I need to dismount the dash and shift it around, but I really hadn't messed with it in some time.

Found some issues with my ongoing brake problems, more q's

So I've had a problem with: Soft overall pedal feel Pedal firms up after a quarter push emergency stops fade/smoke. modulation is poor (when pedal first pressed, a slight psshh is heard, is that normal?) What my setup is: Cobra brakes all 4 corners (38mm piston fronts) stainless...

    bye bye mustang

4cylinder stangs? Otherwise, their place is way ahead of that car. I've dealt with a few of them.

Anyone Have an 03 Cobra Steering Rack?

hard to find a new one. Most ford dealers will sell remans which can have play in them. Steering radius is reduced in any 99+ rack, as the rack doesn't have the same limiters in it that the 94-98 do. However, beware, this can result in scrubbing your tires against the suspension in some...

Tired of sloppy steering, but what's the fix?

I'll have to look for this bearing, though I don't think I could move the steering shaft around. so the check is to grasp the steering shaft in the engine bay and try to move it up or down (or left to right) and see if there's play in the shaft's firewall bearing and bushing?

Tired of sloppy steering, but what's the fix?

Its the best item I've bought for the steering (besides the bumpsteer kit), but its no good if the rack has play as well. :bang:

Tired of sloppy steering, but what's the fix?

a million. I've thrown just about every fix at it, and what I can tell you is that its hit or miss these days with racks. That still leaves tie rod ends, bumpsteer kits, lower A arm bushings, rack bushings, steering shafts/joints, loose steering wheel bolts, bad upper columns. I've bought...

    Steeda X2 Ball joints

That's what I did, I fetched about $50 on the balljoints and bushings from the 03 arms. Didn't cover the install of the new parts, but hey, every bit helps.

    Steeda X2 Ball joints

its not that much of a hassle to have done. I bought the 03 arms, pressed out the bushings and balljoints, and had a machine shop align and press in forward offset bushings and x2's. Very excellent improvement in my car's handling behaviour.

    Lights...

I'd get under the pedal assembly again, especially if you have a 5 speed. Look waaay up there by the firewall, there's a harness up there that rubs on the pedal assembly. Lots of 94-95's started blowing that fuse once the harness had been rubbed through. Another easy check (how I found it)...

Car pinging in this Phoenix, AZ heat!!!

I'm not pinging, but I'm running hot as hell and my tune is rich as hell. I hadn't altered the tune because I didn't want to end up pinging as well. I think first and foremost you'd want to go over every inch of your cooling system, and definately invest in an autometer water temp gauge...

    Alternator + ground?

I think he meant where to ground on the alternator. Im thinking of mounting the ground on the pivot retaining bolt, and then to the chassis (which I guess it would then also serve as a second engine ground).
