Non-mustang pic whoring; dial up, grab a snack

What year is the 250R? I had an '86 that I loved, just changed hobbies at the time. Hoping to get a 4x4 quad sometime soon.

    Timing chain slack question

:nice: That actually looks like a factory double roller, based on the part number cast into the cam sprocket. FWIW, it looks like it has just a touch more slack than the new double roller Summit set I put on mine last spring. :) Scott

Pulling engine for the third time.... remove the A/C this time?

If you do decide to sell the stuff off, I'm really interested in the manifold block and dual lines that come off the back of the compressor, like I mentioned up at the top of page 2. Let me know!!! Scott

    1" Phenolic spacer

I don't know about anybody else's, but it doesn't keep my Street Heat Intake any cooler. It does make the VC clearance less of an issue, and it is kind of cool to drive the car without a hood and be able to see two-thirds of the intake up in the air. :rlaugh: Scott

    Pushrod Problems

The proven system is guide plates, hardened pushrods, studs, poly-lock rocker arm adjusters, and reputable brand roller rocker arms. What you have now are an older design that was based off Ford's rail-guided rocker arms (no roller tips). The guide plates sandwich under the hex shank on the...

    motor noise vid inside

Also make sure you have the oil pressure sending port plugged somehow, because it's a geyser too. I covered my front bumper last spring by having that brain fart myself. :rlaugh: Scott

    Pushrod Problems

Those are like the rockers that Ford used before the fulcrum style, the non-adjustable kind from the late 60s. Same style that my dad used on his BB 429. You might be having a problem with the rails on the rockers hitting the retainers and that is a VERY bad situation. It could pop...

    C9E Blocks

Mystery.... does your state do a visual test? If so, you're shot already with a big block. Some states have rules that engines older than the model year of the vehicle can't be used, so that might get ya too. Sounds like your best bet may be to put very few miles on it if you go the BB...

    New motor is Missing !!

Check to make sure the plug wires are routed properly, and that they're all snapped on completely. Other than that, I had a cracked plug after putting mine together last spring, and it had very similar symptoms to what you say. I only found it by using my last resort, waiting until it was dark...

    SPARK PLUG COLOR

I agree, I think the coolant is supposed to 'wash' the porcelain down.

Smog pump delete ?s..already did some research but....

I used bolts that were longer than that (about the same length sticking out the back of the heads as the air tube), and the transition from the threaded portion to the straight portion is the sealing surface. Worked great for me. I also gutted my air pump and put it back on. The inside has...

    Dynoed today!!!!

Maybe I'm missing the boat, but the Torker intake is not the best suited to produce torque on a small block... Other than that, the numbers don't sound bad to me. :nice: Scott

    Pulling engine

The nice thing about most of the electrical connections is that they're pretty specific connectors and locations, so it's easy to get them back in the original locations. +1 on the ASAP thing though, since the longer you wait the less fresh the details are. Good luck! :nice: Scott

    Slop in driveshaft....U joint?

It sounds like the backlash in the gearset is off, by the description of it being a rotating slop. Scott

Owned. Heads lifted. Pics inside. :)

I think the biggest thing would be that I doubt you could swap the heads in the car, since the studs are so long on the upper holes. Anybody else think so, or am I full of :bs: ? :rlaugh: Scott

Pulling engine for the third time.... remove the A/C this time?

Yes! :( Mine's been out since I got the car 7 years ago, and I wish I could find the hose / manifold assembly cheap so I could fix it. Which reminds me, if you decide to lose it, PM me please. lol

HOW TO: Port and polish heads at home in under a day....

Wait, was he ON acid and ported the intake or did he port the intake using acid? Seems like two completely different sets of results! :rlaugh:
