86 Grand Marquis 5.0 Roller Motor HO or Not HO??

I had an 88 Cougar with a 5.0. It was a roller cam, non-HO engine. Lower compression (around 8.0 I think), different firing order, cast iron manifolds instead of headers, etc... The only difference on the upper intake was the name plate on top. Two torx drive screws and that's done. The...

    LRS Economy shortblocks *forged*

Hmm... my TFS street heads are about 6 or 7 years old now, but they were drilled for the 1/2" bolts and came with hardened washers to use 7/16 bolts if needed. Just an FYI. Scott

Max power with stock GT cam?

I got 265 / 300 out of mine on a decent weather morning at a Dynojet. I should say that there was a bad misalignment in the intake ports, since I put it on in the car, but I doubt that hurt it more than maybe 5 hp or so. That was also with equal length shorties & flowmasters. I'm curious to...

will exhaust of a 97 cobra fit my 95?

The cat-back I put on my car came off an 84 I believe. I think any Foxbody style should fit, as long as it doesn't have independent rear suspension. :nice: Scott

    Help with Powertrax No-slip

I think there's a difference in the opening in the side of the differential. I bought a used 31 spline open carrier off ebay when I did my mini-spool & didn't research it much past that. Hope this helps! Scott

Professional Products throttle body IAC TPS installation

I didn't have any trouble with the sensors on my Professional Products tb, but the bolt pattern to mate to the intake / elbow was off and had to be redrilled. That's a lot of fun to do to a shiny new part. :rlaugh:

Also, when you buy a kit, it will be shipped with an empty bottle too. The shipping companies will not let you ship them filled. Scott

Broke a piston...are the heads fixable?

Don't you think you could TIG the pits once you clean the head up and then face mill it to clean up the whole surface? Time consuming, but not as expensive as a new head I would imagine. On a side note, you should be able to repair them no matter what. Aluminum is very friendly in that...

    long tube headers

I put a set of 1-3/4 MAC longtubes on my car about 3 months ago, and the fit was great. They were for the 94-95 style, so maybe that had something to do with it. The cheapy eBay x-pipe I bought was the fitment problem, but a floorjack took care of that pretty easily. Very pleased with my...

    Homemade Tube benders

My cousin and I used his floorjack on my no-name longtube x-pipe. lol That's hot-rodding right there!! :rlaugh: Scott

Broke two clutch cables, 3rd one is stretching. Reccomend another

:stupid: :nice: Best single part I've put on my car, made the clutch smooth as silk.

    carrier bearing preload, too much?

Does the carrier seem hard to rotate? I don't think you should be concerned by it, unless you mic'd the bearing races on the old bearings and the new bearings before you installed them and they were identical. The races could account for that small of a difference on their own. Just my...

    Build question/timeslips question

This is a good plan, IMO. There will always be someone with more money and more power. My car does pretty well for itself, I think, those numbers were with shorties, and ~265 hp. Drive the wheels off it and you can make most anything quick or fast. lol Scott

    Cash for Clunkers.....

:stupid: Not to mention the energy and pollution created by taking the old ones off the road. Of course, it sells cars that Government Motors now owns in the process, so it's all for our own good, right? :bs: This is just more proof that big politicians aren't in touch with anyone who has to...

installing oil filler neck to trick flow valve covers

I have a home-made copper tube for my EGR tube, so that may be why it didn't cause me any problems, but I'm with you on the grommet. If the hole isn't too small, it should pop right in with a bit of oil. Same for the cap. If you don't oil the o-ring seal, it won't go in for anything. Scott

installing oil filler neck to trick flow valve covers

I put mine at the back of the vc, because it was just too crowded in the stock location for my liking. If you still have the smog tubes / check valves on the car, that may not work, but it sure looks clean back there. I also used a hole saw that was smaller than called for. I can't remember...
