Issues after intake swap (MPG & Stalling)

:stupid: I agree with this. There is likely a mechanical (vac. leak, etc...) or electrical (sensor) problem causing this. Remember that the wiring on these cars has been through a ton of heat cycles since '94 or '95 when it was new, so any time you unhook sensors, injectors, etc.. and...

Noob Timing question - DD Please Help!

If you pulled the dizzy and then turned the engine over, there's a good chance you're 180* off. It's a really simple test. If it spits and sputters and pops back through the intake and exhaust, shut it off, yank the dizzy and turn the shaft so the rotor is opposite where it was, re-stab and...

    Ongoing water pump problem

The head gaskets could be backwards (wrong end toward the front), or you could have a massive amount of air in the cooling system. Air won't heat up like the liquid, and will give no heat out of the heating system. How have you been refilling the engine with coolant? One little trick that...

Rough idle and misfire on accel

Make sure that they're pulling codes from the connectors behind the passenger side strut tower, you can't use the connector under the dash. Other than that, just look for basic things like vacuum leaks, plug wires arcing, fuel pressure, etc... Good luck! Scott

air conditioner compressor removal - im stuck

The lines on the compressor are held by a single bolt in the center of a manifold block. I'm not sure how the compressor is bolted to the bracket, when I had to pull the front end off mine, I took the bracket off with the A/C and P/S still bolted to it. Good luck! Scott

Need to bypass my smog pump...

You could always do what I did, gut the pump and run a stock belt. :D

    vibration? after installing......

The guy at Car Quest doesn't know much... lol The stock flywheel for the 5.0 HO is a 50oz. imbalance, and the harmonic damper must be matched to that. If you use a 28oz. or 0oz. component, you're going to wipe out the short block. Unless you have a stroker or an old style block with two...

    Want nitrous, wet or dry?

My cousin and his brother in law both have ZEX wet kits on their 'Stangs and neither have had an issue. The kit they have comes with a 'brain' box that measures output from the TPS to turn the spray on and off. One thing to consider with the whole fuel puddling issue is that you don't spray...

Guero, any update on this? Just curious. :nice: Scott

    Foam out the Radiator

Usually a gasket like that, that's not subjected to compression forces, will only leak outward or into the oil pan. In order to make foam or bubbles, there has to be air forced into the system. This is usually because of a head gasket problem. Did you only change one head gasket? Was this a...

    Foam out the Radiator

Sounds like a bad head gasket or maybe lower intake. Not all blown head gaskets or leaky intakes put the coolant into the oil, sometimes it's sucked into the intake and passed out the exhaust without making a milkshake. Whatever it is, good luck!

Best Clutch Flywheel and Clutch cables

I've got a Centerforce D/F clutch, and love it now with the Maximum Motorsports cable. I had an adjustable cable from Zoom, and it plain sucked. Made both my stock clutch and the Centerforce feel like an old grain truck. With the non-adjustable cable from MM, it's the smoothest, lightest...

new engine has some new problems

One thing you can try is using an oil pump primer to try and build oil pressure and make sure it's getting to the top end of the motor. Are you relying on the stock oil pressure gauge, or do you have an aftermarket gauge? Just curious. Scott

    Stumbling, Bog-down, like mis-fire Issue

I hadn't ever thought of using fuel pressure to try and cure a filter problem, but it seems you might be stressing the pump a bit? What fuel pump are you running? For what it's worth, my combo is kinda-sorta close to yours (minus the cam and pistons) and we're pretty close on...

    Power Steering Pressure Line

:stupid: It's designed to do that so it can flex under load. If it didn't, it would probably fatigue and crack. Scott

    Stumbling, Bog-down, like mis-fire Issue

Do you have any way to monitor fuel pressure while it's acting up? Sounds like this may be the problem. On a side note, why such high fuel pressure? And, since you did the A9L swap, has the car been tuned with a chip? Just curious. Scott

pics of trick flow valve covers

If we ever get our laptop fixed, I'll get some pics for ya. I put the filler neck at the back of the pass. valve cover, and made a custom vac. tube to the intake from some steel tube and rubber hose. If you decide on these and get ready to drill / cut the hole in with a hole saw, be sure to...

    water pump gasket

What gasket are you guys using? Last year when I tore mine apart to replace the gaskets and seals, I couldn't get a $%*@#$%*#$ water pump to plate gasket that matched to save my arse... I ended up using black RTV instead. The gaskets in the Trick Flow kit were wrong, the gaskets from Autozone...

    19sec 1/4mile WTF?

:flag: Thanks for the info guys! Always good to learn something new! :SNSign: The trap question refers to your 1/4 mile MPH. That is a real good indication, since ET problems can result from terrible traction. Scott
