    13.20 @ 104 stock!!

Understood but I thought I would give you a warning before the skeptics pounce.

    13.20 @ 104 stock!!

We've had a lot of bogus ET claims here so it would be great if you could provide some type of proof like a timeslip or video (or both if possible). Otherwise you're going to catch hell from the forum.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

The GTO won the performance battle but the Mustang won desirability war. I'm sorry that you have such a mental deficiency that you can't comprehend that the writers preferred the Mustang in spite of the GTO having better power but I think it's time you just suck it up and deal with it. Whining...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I suppose it would depend on how long you plan on keeping the car. As a consumer, I assume you wouldn't want to walk into an auto parts store eight years down the road, needing a part for your car only to find out it isn't something that is normally stocked because there were so few of them...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I fully understand that some people want a more understated or exclusive car. What does that have to do lackluster sales of the GTO?

    40th anniversary

I guess the point I was trying to make went over your head so let me try again. The first Mustang was introduced in 1964. I assume we can all agree on that? OK, the 40th anniversary would be 2004. Even though the 2005 models were introduced in 2004, many people would not be able to...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I just did an inventory search for GTOs (out of curiousity) and found 25 within a 100 mile radius of where I live. You can't blame it on winter because I live on the Texas gulf coast. I'd say the GTO is "all show-no go" since they SHOW up on dealer lots and don't ever seem to GO. :rlaugh...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I find it very interesting that all these people with "superior" cars feel the need to come to a Mustang forum and talk about them. Why do you suppose that is?

    Probably a stupid question but....

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

Exactly. I don't hate the GTO but I just can't make myself like it either in spite of it's great engine and performance. I think that's the gist of the C&D "gotta have it" scoring. It's the same reason BMWs routinely get selected over better performing competitors.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

That's funny...your first post here was a "sore loser" post because C&D didn't pick the GTO.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

Talk about putting a spin on things. So now we call lack of sales "exclusivity" and mundane styling "stealth"?

Competition is fine...obnoxious little trolls are not. :notnice:

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I think that's why the GTO owners keep coming over here. They own a car that: 1) Is bashed in the press for it's styling 2) Is not seen as a threat to Mustang sales 3) Is ignored by the public in general All the attention the '05 Mustang is getting has their little panties all in knots.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

Yes, that's exactly what I said. Are you that dense? I guess you feel the need to come here to somehow make you feel better since you obviously got your feelings hurt when C&D didn't pick your car. You know what, the only thing I have against the GTO is that the styling isn't appealing to me...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

Did you ever stop to think that what makes a car more desirable than another isn't just performance numbers? No...I suppose your brain doesn't work at that level now does it?

    40th anniversary

You're problably correct about selling the '04s but if you think in terms that the Mustang was introduced in 1964 (even though officially there aren't any '64s), 2004 would be the 40th anniversary of the introduction. If you think in terms actual MY designations, 2005 is the 40th anniversary...

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

I'm not sure I agree with that. The retro worked for the Mustang because it's such an iconic American design. The GTO isn't as well known outside of muscle-car afficionados so I think they just needed a more striking design to catch peoples attention.

Car and Driver Review- 05 Stang vs. 05 GTO

Let's consider this for moment and put it into perspective. The Mach 1 was riding on 20+ year old chassis that should have been retired a long time ago and just over the horizon was the all new 2005 Mustang on a much more modern chassis with the promise of better performance, better build...

so why didn't Ford build this car 5 years ago?

I think safety regs was one reason. The old design won't meet newer regs coming soon such as moving the gas tank being from behind the rear axle.
