    Help, the dealer gave up.

Well done! A tip for the future, a corroded connection will always result in increased resistance, which in turn results in a voltage drop at the connection. The end result is HEAT. A good way to check for bad connection on a low voltage circuit is with your hand! if it feels warm or worse...

    New Rim/Tire Speedometer Question

You don't need to change anything .......the tire diameters are almost exactly the same, only 2 revolutions of axle difference over 1 mile. Good to go!:nice:

    Help with brakes

Dont risk it! Don't take chances on brakes. Get them looked at because if the fluid was low your brake (red) warning light should have come on before any problem with pressure loss. A rapid pressure loss usually means only a few things , ruptured brake line or leaking master cylinder are two of...

    Spark Plugs

NGK seem to work well enough, but also Motorcraft & Autolites are the plugs designed for the engine, hard to beat for longevity. Don't use Bosch! To add to the above good advice, if you have an airline, slacken the threads 1 turn & then blow the thread wells clean before removing the plugs ,this...

Hi, Can someone help me with 2000 V6 mustang?

Musfan, as long as the donor vehicle was not a V8 you do not have to reprogram the PCM. If the donar was a v8 you will have several problems & will have to reflash the PCM., or get another v6 PCM from automatic trans vehicle. Assuming you have a donor v6 PCM then the problem looks to be in...

    Help, the dealer gave up.

This is a classic bad connection problem. You should first check the tightness of all high current wires especially on your starter circuit around the starter relay/solenoid & at the starter motor. Check ground wires too, Check battery voltage while cranking the engine. Battery voltage will drop...

    Help please

Makes sense to get your lock fixed. Probably cost less than $25 ! Must be worth a lot more for peace of mind.

    Altenator Question

Measure your battery voltage at idle speed. voltmeter should read between 14-15 volts. If it's outside these values you may well have a charging problem. If everything is clean & tight, then the problem is in the alternator ,rectifier or voltage regulator. The regulator can be changed, but I...

    2001 3.8l running rough, help????

Good advice so far....... A shaking engine normally means a chronic case of misfire. You should get P03XX codes if this happens for any length of time. If you have water in your gas ,yes it will make the engine want to die (water does not burn too well). Water is also heavier than gas so it...

    TPS Screws

AFR is controlled primarily by your front o2 sensors. The PCM monitors o2 sensor voltage which swings+- around approx .5v, Rich condition at .9 swinging to lean condition at .1. The PCM responds by changing pulse on time at the injectors. If the PCM cannot achieve this Stiochiometric swing...

    No Start! (on 96 V6)

Success! So the 96 Mustang lives on! Thanks for the help, Mr Burns. Last night me & my Son did some troubleshooting. We tested the HT from the coil packs & found a no spark condition on all coils. I already tested the Primary coil winding voltage B+ terminal & knew it was good. Next we removed...

    No Start! (on 96 V6)

Thats a lot of good troubleshooting info right there! So this morning I had about 15 mins to go over the car (By myself) The coil pack is O.K. & there is b+ voltage to the coil pack. I charged the battery overnight & it reads 12.4v after 20 mins (charger disconnected) so is almost fully...

    No Start! (on 96 V6)

Drove my car to work, started a bit funny but ran O.K. ( although engine died for 2 secs while cruising). Came out from work, engine cranks well but NO sign of firing, completely no combustion. Seems to be spark related but no chance to check anything yet. Battery is good, plugs, wires, etc are...

    TPS Screws

No TPS? When you say 'without one', how does the engine behave? Are there any side effects? Sorry , cant help with the screws, you might have to visit a hardware store though.

Another issue on my 2000 v6 DD.

SO are you losing any oil ? Like frequent top up's. There's only limited places it can be coming from; once you find out what system is losing oil you are halfway there to solving it.:canada:

    Bucking on acceleration

I'm betting on the EGR problem, since you have good response under high RPM /load conditions. If coil pack or bad plugs /leads etc....... problem would be worse at high load condition. Looks to me like the EGR may be stuck slightly open or DPFE problem.

    MISFIRE on a 96 3.8l

I would be checking compression on cyl#5, you may have damage to the head surface in that area. Compare it to the ones on the same bank.
