Anybody ever do something stupid and know it was a risk?

That totally blows! I think you are just in shock and it hasn't really hit you yet... In a day or two you might.. uh, you don't own a gun do you? You have an awesome car. Enjoy it.

Remove Side Scoops or Buy Tires/Wheels?

15x7 will fit no problem all the way around on a 65/6. Not sure about the 15x8 Here's an old shot of my 68 with 15x7 magnums. The "GT" wheels would look hot on your car and the magnums wouldn't suck either.

Remove Side Scoops or Buy Tires/Wheels?

Scoops or no scoops, them 14" wheels gotta go... If you got rid of the side scoops the hood would look odd with those wheels. I agree with your observations about wheels and stripes. In simpler terms, you can have a muscle car look or a stock pony car look. Not both. Maybe keep the scoops...

Engine cranks with the key in the run position PLEASE HELP!!!

This could be tied to which type of starter you used. The new mini/hi torque starters from 5.0s are wired different than the old 67 starters. The new ones have a solenoid on the starter. If you used the old style starter, remove the S & I wires from the sol and check for voltage in run and...

    rear suspension debate..

This is sort of like asking people what you should have for lunch. Everyone is going to have an opinion for what THEY want. A budget would help as well. As 2+2 pointed out, the factory rear can do a pretty good job with minimal changes, but I didn't like the traction masters and removed...

    Need carb advice.

Surging at cruise is a lean condition. You need smaller rod/larger jet combo. tx65coupe is right, the stumble going WOT needs a bigger shot. Try the first hole on the arm. DH is rightest. The carb is too small! I wouldn't run an eddy with that combo anyway. You built that motor for...

    65 Rear Suspension Questions

The stock shackles are the weakest part of the rear suspension. Making them longer and weaker isn't a good idea. When it shimmies you will get tire rub.. Use smaller tires and the proper leaf springs.

    Why not use vacuum advance?

Leave vacuum advance off until you have the mechanical advance dialed in. This is a must. Yes, ~11* initial + 21* mechanical is what your builder is asking for when he says 32* total advance. You just need to speed up the rate so you have it at 3,000 rpms instead of 4000. Your MSD must have...

    Why not use vacuum advance?

2+2 nailed it, but I'll add a bit more. If your timing is on the edge of detonation and you use V/A you can damage you engine when going from a high vacuum situation to low, such as passing on the freeway. There is a slight delay before the vacuum canister/distributor can pull out the...

    22 gallon fuel tank ????

You can save a little weight and trunk space by using a 69 tank (20 gal). I haven't done this, but I have heard you have to bend the fill port back to make it line up with the fill neck. This can be done by using a piece of 2" pipe as a lever. OT, but I'd do this if I could figure out how to...

Engine running too cool after installing fat shroud

If the motor runs too cold, where is the heat coming from that is triggering the fan clutch? Get a t-stat that controls your enging temp, then address the clutch or shroud. The thermostat doesn't care what radiator/shroud you have, only how much heat is held in the motor.

    Suspension porblem has me stumped....

Okay, dumb question.. Where the original springs that came out of the car the same or was one longer/fatter than the other? Even if you drilled the UCA holes wrong, the car would tip and the space between the coils would equalize if they were the same rate. Something is compressing one...

    Suspension porblem has me stumped....

Is the sway bar installed? If so, are the end links the same size? If they are not, it would compress one spring.

    Suspension porblem has me stumped....

Swap the springs and see if the problem follows the spring or stays on the same side. Also what's going on with the rear suspension? Old? New? Worn out on one side worse than the other?

Engine running too cool after installing fat shroud

I had a similar problem where the motor would not reach operating temp even though I had a 180* thermostat. It turned out the thermostat had so much bypass even when cold the motor wouldn't warm up. I was using a "high-flow" thermostat. I put in a standard ford unit and problem solved.

    Engine Swap or Rebuild 289?

You may be able to find a 5.0 roller motor at your local wrecker cheap. Not much to swap it in and you have all the parts (pulleys, oil pan, timing chain cover, etc) from your 289. The stock roller cam is good for power and mileage and the heads have hardened seats for unleaded gas. Cheap and...

    Rear Suspension Belp

Changing shocks won't give you more travel (unless they are air shocks :D). You are more than likely rubbing on the front inside of the wheel well by the spring mount. Panhard bar should help but MAY cause a problem when going over dips at speed when straight. This gives a littlie shimmy as the...
