67 mustang carb and int question

I'm with D Hearne. 570 SA and a Stealth (or Performer RPM). It's mostly personal preference though. Of course knowing nothing about the car, you may want to think about a gear change first. If you're running a 2.79 open rear and a C4...

    overheating issue

With the car warmed up and idling, feel the FRONT of the radiator fins for hot or cold spots. You may have a partialy clogged radiator. Even if the radiator is only 2 years old, it can still catch junk from your motor. BTW, how's the tune? Could timing be off?

    need advice for 289 combo

Be careful putting e7s on a 289 since you will lose a ton of compression. Search for Thumper of Orange Park and see if he will port your 289 heads. I had a set of his e7s on a stock cammed 94 mustang and it was a huge increase, but I never dyno'd the car. The only other changes were exhaust...

    Convertible Speakers

I've got 6 1/2 in the kick panels and 5 1/4 in the rear panels. I don't know the depth. JL Audio brand if that helps. They fit well, sound good with an amp.

    Export brace/monte-carlo bar fix/suggestions

This may be what you are looking for. It will clear the efi manifold. They sell the monte carlo bar by itself as well. P/N: MS3200

    1" sway bar

Get the right springs THEN look at your sway bar. It may be that you only need to change the end links. OR your new springs may make everything line up correctly.

1969 Mustang export brace follow up questions

The jack stands NEED to be further back than the fire-wall or you're not going to move anything. You're relying on the weight of the car to sag forward between the shock tower and fire-wall. Jack it up again and let it sit for ~24 hr and they usually fit pretty good.

    A question on holley carbs

Already replaced gaskets and PV. Thinking back on it, my uncle never cared for how his truck ran with this carb (72 cheby, 350). This may have been a contributing factor or just a bad tune. I'll probably hang on to this carb for an emergency. I can't think it will run at its best like this...

    A question on holley carbs

My uncle gave me a used holley 670 SA because my current carb is a little small for the application. I was checking it out before I installed it and noticed the transfer slots are different lengths, both primary and secondary sides. With the carb upside down if you set the butterflys so the t/s...

    HiPo 289 Hot start problem

Sounds like vapor lock. Fuel pump and metal lines get hot in the engine compartment and quit pumping fuel until things cool down. How hot is "hot"? Above 90* outside? You can usually insulate the lines and mitigate problem.

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

Seriously.. Inquiring minds want to know. Just grasping at straws, but are you using a "dial-back" timing light? If so, is the dial set at 0?

6A ignition got wet, car won't start

It's a Mallory. 2+2, I hear what you are saying. A duraspark unit would not have fried because I washed my car. I never even opened the hood! Water just dripped in at the perfect angle. Yes, I have turn signals in my hood (68 option), but this isn't even safe to drive in the rain. I guess...

6A ignition got wet, car won't start

I washed my car today and some how managed to get water into a Mallory HyFire 6A with the hood closed. Now the car won't start  So I opened the unit and blew it out with compressed air. A little water did come out. It still won't start. Is this thing cooked or do you think it may start...

    Procar Rally and Belts

I've been thinking of the pro car seats and 4 pt belts as well. I was condemplating running the shoulder belts throught the headrest and down to the rear seat bolts. There is no good/safe place for shoulder belts on a convertible.

    How much Vacuum?

I have no problems with 13" of vacuum at idle and P/B. You should be fine. Prolly air in the lines.

(I think) Timing chain issue... might explain dyno/starting/timing issues..

Is it possible the magnetic pick-up in the distributor is wired backwards to the MSD? This would play hell with your timing.
