    F 303 CAM

Total valve lift will not cause PtV issues, when full valve lift occurs, the piston is more than 1.5" away from the cylinder head deck. A better cam with the correct valve events to help the GT40 heads fill those cylinders while ensure driveability, would be a better driveable investment.

    What voltage at ECT connector?

ACT/ECT signal voltage source is isolated from the other sensors (BP, TPS, EVP) VREF. VREF for ECT is the ECT signal wire, same thing for the ACT. Their temp value depends on how "shorted" to SIGRTN or ground they are through the sensor termistor (lowering the resistance = higher temp = signal...

    What voltage at ECT connector?

Looks like you have a short in the wiring harness. Disconnect ECT connector and ECM's and check resistance from ECT terminal to SIGRTN in the ECT connector + from ECT terminal to a good ground. LUK

    Best Cam For 85 GT

What about the TFS2?.... Wasn't it also "designed around those heads"?

1.7s with Tfs stage 1 cam?

Either buy a drop in kit from Thumper or the TFS upgrade kit with the retainers and locks. The TFS-51400413 springs are the ones in the kit. They have a 1.800" installed height and a 1.100" coil bind height specification, so..... 1.8 - 1.1 = .700" lift to coil bind..... add a minimum .060" gap...

Valve springs need to match the camshaft requirements, not the ports.... which is?

    Need help picking a carb!

650/750 Holley DP will work fine, my 302 junk has worked for the past 16 years with a 700 Holley DP that also required the jets size to be increased by 3. Another great option you could also check is Pro-Systems, provide Patrick with your setup info, and he'll build you the correct carburetor...

    running rich SD

'86 with flattop pistons, no valve relieves? If so, did you check for the possibility of PtV problems? Have you performed the KOEO/KOER self tests? Manifold vacuum reading with a gauge is? .... LUK

    you've got gt40 heads with a cam?

This is a speed density project I'm working on, in this case the cam called for double springs. Intake springs were shimmed to match exhaust installed height and seat pressure...... ~160#.

War on Trouble Codes! Few Questions:

Key temperatures are a minimum below 50° or maximum above 250° engine off, and a minimum of 170° or a maximum of 250° engine running for code 21 to be output.

    egr simulators

EVP sensor simulator provides a fixed closed EGR valve value to prevent codes 31/32 and 34/35 to be registered, not allowing the EEC to turn the CEL indicator on (where applicable). It also causes the EEC to delete/bypass the EGR function w/out affecting A/F control and deleting the EGR spark...

    86 shortblock. clearance issues?

E7/GT40 heads on true flattops are a hit or miss deal even with a stock camshaft. TFS TW's provide more clearance due to the valve angle design and allow the use of some aftermarket cams and provide the required PTV clearance.

    1.7 roller and springs

That is not a trick tool..... that is an engine 101 procedure you need to do anytime you change anything (rockers, cam, mill heads, etc) in your setup. And in case you didn't know, here are the stock valve springs specifications, which I have verified with a few setups..... Intake: Valve...

    1.7 roller and springs

Stock exhaust valves coil bind lift is .510", the E-303 with 1.7 rockers = .529".... so he will be fine putting the exhaust valve springs under coil bind conditions? .... he might not be as lucky as one of the cases I have had to repair, like the one shown below...... The way to...

    Noob at changing valve springs

:stupid:..... or cylinder #1 starts with the intake valve in front and cylinder #5 starts with the exhaust valve in front. BTW... the exhaust valves are the ones with the 2-piece retainer/rotator assy.

    1.7 roller and springs

Total valve lift has nothing to do with the possibility of PtV issues, it's during the overlap (or exhaust to intake cycle changeover) that the valves and the piston could get intimate, as shown below.... when maximum valve lift is reached, the piston is >1.5" below the deck. If you're...

    Rocker arm Question

That's an old school tinkering practice to increase the performance in a setup where a single pattern cam is used. In terms of what would be better for your setup, only testing will provide you with the data... some work better with 1.6/1.7 others with a 1.7/1.6 split setup. Is it better and...
