    Britt, no, a gas cap won't help with those codes. The SOHC 4.0 is notorious for having leaking intake gaskets, which give a lean condition and set those codes. I'd try snugging up the intake bolts first, and see if that makes any difference. Also make sure there are no air leaks at the air...

    Thanks for the reply, NCSU. Yeah, it's a manual, and the pinging is getting worse. I plan on checking the EGR and PVC systems this weekend; maybe clean up everything and install a new PVC valve. If that dosen't help, guess I'll take your advice and go up a grade in gas and see what that does.....

    Are you saying the starter won't turn the engine over? If so, try jumping across the starter relay, and see if it starts. If so, then the relay is bad. There's an outside chance it may be a faulty ignition switch.......

    Welcome 351C. :cheers: A bad fuel pressure regulator will allow raw fuel to be sucked into the intake manifold, through the vacuum hose. I'd check that first. Pull off the vacuum hose and see if it's wet inside.....

    As was stated, the best way to check for a battery drain is with a multimeter, while pulling fuses. Just for laughs, check the sunvisor courtesy light. They tend to stay on even with the visor turned up, and you can't see the light so it's not apparent.
