    i use starting fluid but there is a tool that connects to a small lantern propane bottle and you can use that too. don't be afraid of a fire, i spray starting fluid on hot surfaces all the time and have yet to ignite it.

    if it is revving when the clutch pedal is down then you have an idle problem and not a clutch. if you are moving with the clutch pedal up and the rpms start rising and the speed not rising then you have a problem. in your case, check the iac valve on the throttle body. in case you don't know, it...

    i just got an h pipe from a guy that said he had it on his 97, it bolted up with no clearance issues to my 2000 auto car. i had a bassani o/r x on it before and it sounded like ass. i don't like them on 4.6's now.

    it sounds like he tested it by crossing the negative to positive, correct. not by checking the coil plug terminal to ground. do you have a good ground from motor to body of the car and to the battery.

    i had glasspacks on mine with stock h pipe and it sounded cool, put an o/r x and it sounded really super loud and the main tone was awsome but it made a secondary noise under load that sounded like crap so i changed mufflers thinking that was it and it was worse.

    i know that sound and it's a rod bearing. you can drive it like that for a long time as long as you are easy. we had a v6 van like that and it was driven for 2 year before it finally let go. no rocker in the world is going to make that much noise. sorry

    no that is what i am talking about, is it grinding or just spinning. sometimes mine comes loose and grinds. if it just spins. remove the wires,2 bolts and replace starter, no need for another post. in case you haven't made one yet anyway.

    is the starter loose. i have a high torque starter and it comes loose all the time.

    start it and when it hangs up, pull off the ign. wire on the top of the solenoid. if the starter stops then it is in the circuitry.

    i wouldn't think you need to pull trans out to pull off arm. remove shaft and exhaust then the crossmember slowly lower the trans down. be sure to watch the pulleys and firewall area so nothing gets broken. may have to loosen up motor mounts too.

    how tight did you put the wheel bearing nut. the caliper would have been my diagnoses. i would check the proportioning valve.
