    nitrous and stock gears!?

I have seen a bone stock '90 AOD car go from 15.5's/ 91 to 13.6/ 101 with an out of the box NOS 75hp kit. Just remember to spray over 3,000 rpm's or you'll fry your clutch and possibly do engine damage. The only problem with juice is people use too much of it.

No one will install my SFCs or H pipe in Columbus

Any autobody shop has the proper equipment (Mig Welder, weld thru primer, lift) to weld your SFC's, however, the H pipe is an emission item and you may have to do it yourself or go with Hi-flow cats if your car isn't radical.

    Water Leak

I apologize, I should have looked first before I posted. there is no freeze plug behind the flywheel as in other V-8's. A dye test would pinpoint the leak.

    Water Leak

I would guess a rear freeze plug, and it's a real pita to replace.

    E cam

I advanced mine 4 degrees and it helped the bottom end dramatically. Below 2500 rpm's no one's home but 3-5000 it will pin you in the seat and HOLD you there! with 3.55's and modified stock heads. The stock one didn't do that. I need low end and midrange for autocrossing and it delivered! Anyone...

Best cam for a stock motor....need a stright answer

The #18 idles like the b cam but has waaay more low and mid range torque than the b, plus it will pass the sniffer and it works with a blower. Steeda went 11.92/113 way back in '92 with one N/A too!.I should have put one in my car :(

Best cam for a stock motor....need a stright answer

Don't change the stock cam until you have to...use the 1.7 RR. If you MUST have that lopey drive-in idle in a streetable, emissions legal cam the STEEDA#18 is the BEST BY far.. 220*@.050 Intake /226* @ .050 Exh .480" lift w/1.6 rockers 112* L/C :nice:

    smog question

Yeah, I did it. On my El Camino with a built 350hp 355 SBC I used dual HP Cats from Jegs and had a custom 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmasters. Like the man said before: cats won't cover a bad engine or state of tune. On my 355, I used a Comp 268 cam and a Holley 600 and a stealth dual plane....had...

    What to look for?

What to look for If I were you I would look for a legit car, one that may be a one owner car with maintenence records. Look for a car that hasn't been hacked or wrecked. I mean look for obvious things that are out of place like dangling wires and rigged components. Who you are buying it from is...

problems getting carbed 306 to fire

You have to make sure the teeth of the starter and the flywheel are meshing properly. You may have to get under the car and somehow observe the action while someone cranks it over. Also, check the main power cable that runs from the solenoid to the starter. Mine corroded inside the casing so...

How do i get the peice of **** brake lines off?

The clip keeps the whole thing from spinning when you try to unbolt the line. Use a flare or line wrench on the hard line part and use a vise grip on the rounded part of the soft line. That's getting replaced anyway so it doesn't matter if you bugger it up getting it off.

87-93 Which year had forged pistons?

pistons Forged pistons are better for hipo use,but hypereutectics seal better due to tighter fit. Forged pistons have a lot looser running clearance .004-.006"vs. .001-.002" which means less internal friction but more oil consumption and noise which is why Ford switched. Heavy nitrous, boost...

    E cam

E-cam Roller rockers should be used to get the most out of the cam. Hardened pushrods are required only if you are using guide plates or early 289 heads. You may need the idle adjustment plate to get a decent idle. 1987's had speed density FI and I have been told they don't tolerate hipo cams...

    MSD wiring harness?

Get it by all means, it makes for a nicer installation and if your MSD ever quits(Mine did) you can simply unplug it and plug your stock in and keep going.

Anyone ever have this problem with the radiator hose???

I just looked on mine and there is a 6-7" corrigated sleeve around the hose where it passes over the alternator plug. Is yours missing? That would keep it from melting. :)

    How to clean fuel injectors?

The best way is to use the factory kit. It has a canister with fuel and a detergent. You have to disable your fuel pump and the kit taps into the fuel rail and you basically run it till it uses up what is in side the canister. That's the only way I know to truly clean the injectors.

87-93 Which year had forged pistons?

Actually, '85's had them in a dished version like the '87-92's and '86 had a flat topped version, '93-95 went to hypereutectics(cast)

Crane 1.7's - Do I need new pushrods?

Wow I guess I was lucky....I used FMS 1.72's with stock heads shaved .020" and used the shim kit. I drove the car from Fl to NJ round trip and put a whole season of autocrossing and another 25K miles on it until I did the E-cam/FMS1.6 RR's and noticed a perfect wear pattern across the tops of my...

so.. anyone use Acetone in their gas tank?

Acetone All I can say is: I wouldn't do it on my car. Acetone can melt plastic parts like your fuel tank strainer giving you delivery problems and clogging your electric fuel pump and lines, leaving you stranded and it can melt plastic or rubber o rings elsewhere in your fuel system which by...
