Is it bad to bang the crap out of the crank to get a pilot bearing out?

This works great! You can get a socket with an extension also. When a buddy of mine years ago suggested this I thought he was high, but it works. And don't forget the rag, or else you'll have grease everywhere. Can't answer about the internal crank bearing(s).

    stolen

Sucks dude. Sorry to hear that. I've had mine stolen too, but I was fortunate enough to get it back. The a-holes left mine running at the mall, with e-brake on and parked next to where another mustang GT was parked (also stolen). They left mine there b/c it was almost out of gas, I'm sure...

Anyone with a 351W and a holley carb.....

Go with the 670. The 570 will be small and barely adequate even with a mild set-up. The 670 will work with mild or with a good amount of mods.

    Aftermarket Intake/head combos?

The Autolite carb is fine for a typical 289. So feel free to keep using it. It will mount to almost all intakes also, so that's not going to be an issue. I've run both a dual plane Edelbrock Performer and a single plane Torker 2 intake on my 302 in the 68 coupe. I'm kind of old fashioned with my...

    Aftermarket Intake/head combos?

First of all, thanks for serving!:flag: How will you be using the car? How much $$ do you plan on spending? How old (miles) is the bottom end? etc. etc. You don't have to spend alot to get things moving. There some good combo kits out there, like Eddy kits. The suggestion about keeping...

I got my Tremec about 8 yrs ago, before they had the trans crossmember that's specific for the tremec. I had to cut of the mount "ears" and reweld farther back. then I had to rivet patches for the former mount locations. Now they have crossmembers made for the aftermerket tranny. Fork will work.

    Good Intake (etc) Recommendations?

ditto. The TFS kits are good and they're matched together. Holley is good too. You Cali guys have to have the NOS, so just drop a 302/306 cid with a TFS kit and a 250hp shot for when you need it. You'll be real streetable. Or, just put a fart pipe and 2' tall wing on it. That will get you...

Putting Carpet Back In The Car

I'm installing the 50resto gray carpet right now, myself. It's not that complicated but there is a bunch of stuff that has to come out, like almost the whole interior. Take your time. The 50resto carpet doesn't really have any holes cut. As far as the seats go, I just laid the carpet in...

    86 'vert starting point

10k can dissolve pretty quickly. Get the car running, functional, and safe. Fix all the missing/damaged body parts. See where that leaves you cash-wise. Decide what level paintjob you want, they can cost alot. There are alot of things you can do to make it faster that don't have to cost big $$...

This can't be right, just got painted! Need help.

Sucks dude. Don't give these a-holes a chance to "fix" the quality work they did. You may end up with other things on your car being messed with. Did you pay with a credit card? If you did you can contact them and usually get your money back (they have insurance for that stuff, and an...

    Removing tensioner...

I use a breaker bar with socket. Put it on the nut in the back and rotate. The tensioner will 'flex' and allow you to remove the belt. Watch your fingers. Good luck.

Drivers side door will not open.

Sounds like your door lock actuator is frozen. The write-up mentioned above is good but might take you some time. Easiest solution is to replace it. It's about $50 and should be available at most parts stores. To open your door, I would think you should be able to open it using the handle...
