Is It Okay To Flip Transmission Over?

No problem at all. The things handles 300lb-ft of torque bashing through it all day long, it wont even notice.

My 87 Gt Convertible Feels Faster Than My 94 Gt Coupe (stock)

I hear you Ruppert. My 92 vert was one of those freak stangs too. Had pulleys and subframes, otherwise stock and ran 13.8. Lit up 1st all day long, and hit 27mpg freeway top down.

My 87 Gt Convertible Feels Faster Than My 94 Gt Coupe (stock)

Fox bodies are lighter weight. I had a vert and in stock form it felt (was) faster than any other stock mustang i had, including both notch 5.0s and the 2000 gt i had at one time.

    Are My Lifters Bad?

I think your lifters are OK. It's normal for some to be more spongy than others because as the motor sits there doing nothing, some lifters have the spring pressure sitting on them forcing oil to slowly bleed out while others (most) will be on the cam base circle and not bleed out. That's why...

Roller Rocker Install, Push Rod Lenth Check Question # 1531

That seems to more or less make sense. But keep in mind the following: - You will of course be getting a whole set of push rods the same length, so you have to base the length off of the longest possible case, then add some to that since hydraulic lifters require preload. Remember, you can shim...

Sudden Loss Of Charging / Amp Light On

Does anyone know if the 95amp alternator from a 96 F150 will fit in my fox ?

Sudden Loss Of Charging / Amp Light On

My charging has been weak ever since I bought the car, like dimming headlights at night. Last night I was idling at a light and the voltage was LOW, like near the red, so I'm reving the motor up to about 1200 rpm to maintain the voltage at the middle. This was working like normal, then suddenly...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

I've appreciated all of the suggestions here. I didnt argue with anyone, except for this guy claiming he's had it all figured out, and subsequently putting down everyone including me. He honestly didnt add jack to the discussion, and his logic makes no sense. According to him, since putting the...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

Ok, think about it logically for a second... You said putting back 1.7 rockers would determine the problem. I said it wouldn't. I started this thread to get ideas of what was wrong with the 1.6 rockers (knowing they likely had an issue, knowing the exact same setup with 1.7s didn't). So how...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

In short though , I apologize to everyone in this thread - basically this is just a result of me making a dumb assumption and a shortcut in thinking that since my Crane 1.7 roller rockers didn't need shims, neither would my stock 1.6 rockers. The fact is, the Crane 1.7 rockers sit a bit higher...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

I don't think you understand - If I went and put back the lifters 'the same as they were' like you suggested in your brilliant test, then yeah, I'd be going back to how they were that morning, when it ran fine, and revved. I already knew there was a problem with something I did, that's why I...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

Lifters are probably original, I never replaced them. They make a bit of noise right at startup then quiet down a bit. After its hot though? Im not sure, it may in fact get a little louder, but if so not by a huge amount.

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

The test in your post wouldn't work, I was pretty clear that I hadn't run these heads with the 1.6s yet. Even so, I'd rather measure turns (like i did) instead of putting something on and hoping it would work, already learned my lesson on doing that here.

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

Seems that alot of people misunderstood what happened here. Stock 5.0 (stock cam), did 1.7 roller rockers at same time as gt40p heads. Did not need any shims at that time, torqued about 3/4 turn after zero lash on the 1.7s, no issues ran great but was noisy. I already cleared the valve covers...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

Cool I'm going to do that tomorrow and recheck the clearances.. I don't have pushrods but I have shims so this should work. I'll report back if it that is the issue.

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

Here's another question (hehe)... if/when I open up the valve covers again, I was considering putting the 1.7 rollers back on... but just on the exhaust side, leaving the stock rockers on the intake. Is this a great idea or not ?

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

Using the stock pushrods. Like I said, did the Explorer heads/intake/1.7roller rocker swap, got it setup and running mint. The 1.7's didn't need any shims, torqued fine at about 1/2 after zero lash, switched back in the stock 1.6 rockers, I DIDN'T MEASURE this time, but assumed it would be the...

High Rpm Power Loss After Switching Back To 1.6 Rockers

I had installed Crane 1.7 ratio roller rockers when I did my GT40p heads a while back. Problem is, even after re-checking the torque/install on them several times, I could never get them to be quiet, car always sounded like a loud sewing machine and I couldn't learn to 'accept' it. So today I...
