    Xpipe Question.

I have the Dr Gas X pipe on my 66. It's 1" lower with Tri-Ys and I don't have any clearance issues. I can't see where any X pipe would be different. The header collectors sit lower than the pipe.

    Anyone with a 64-66 & a Gear reduction starter?

I really like the Powermaster mini starter that I have in my 66. It cranks the engine over effortlessly and I have plenty of room around the headers and no interference with the steering linkage. I can R&R the starter in just a couple of minutes if needed!

    Body Filler Removal

I would and did take all the filler off my 66. It's the not knowing the PO's work that would have bugged me! We've all seen what kind of cheesey fixes that have been done to these cars over the years. Besides, it will give you a chance to work out the small dings.

    Paint

I've used both of those types of paint and lacquer too. My preference is BC/CC. It's much easier to paint and when you color sand and buff....Looks Awesome!! Last time I painted over an existing job, I used a PPG sealer and didn't have any problems.

    Sounding like a mean monster

Dynomax flow through race mufflers. These babies are probably borderline street legal! They're not very expensive either.

Roller spring perches, where to get them,?

John's roller perches are one of the best upgrades I put on the 66. The front end is so much better. I wish I would have thought about rollerizing the whole front end when I was rebuilding it. Now I'll have to wait for something to go so I have a legitimate reason for swaping out all the parts.

    TCP motor mounts

I have the TCP mounts on my 66 and I love them! They do transmit more vibration than normal, but I like to FEEL what the engine is trying to tell me.

    Npd Door Shells

I think it's a flip of the coin whether it will fit. I replaced both of my 66 doors. Pass side fit very nice, driver door took alot of work to get it right. I'm happy with the results though.

    Flywheel: Steel vs Aluminum

I have an Alum fw in mine and other than the engine reving easier I feel no diff. All the talk about hard to take off and lurching at low speeds has not happened. I'm glad I got rid of the useless weight!

Do I need to port my new intake?

When I built my 289 we flow tested the rpm airgap as well as the tri-ys and did some minor r&d on one port each and increased the flows to the point where they started to drop off. Yea it took some time but the little 289 needs all the help it can get! It was pretty handy having my friend who...
