    manual brakes.. who has them?

snakepilot, I must disagree with your viewpoint. Not sure if you have ever driven a car with manual upsized disks but I know what mines going to do every time I step on the pedal. I went manual because I knew the cam I would be running would not produce the vacuum power brakes needed. Sure, if...

    manual brakes.. who has them?

I do. Manual Baer 13" track kit up front, small drums out back. They work great! 17" rim is req'd and the ultra performance 3 season tires help as well. After driving a GM with a big cam and hard pedal I decided to stick to manual. I have no problem with emergency stops and pedal effort is...

    Thoughts On Air Filter Size

Be mindful of distributer clearance when sizing things up. In a perfect world we would all be running velocity stacks with 4 open venturies, but good power can be made with a drop base. There are flow straightening gizmos out there that probably are worth a few ponies with rpm but are they...

How do you change the fluid in a 8" rear diff?

I use a cheap (under$10) oil pump that came from the local parts store. It can screw on to wide mouth oil bottles and has a manual pump that squirts about 1oz at a time. Attach a bit longer hose and suck the oil out of the housing thru the fill hole. Also works great for manual trans & transfer...

351 victor jr under 66 shelby hood?

A 14" round air cleaner lid is too wide to tuck up into a shelby style scoop. There really isn't much clearance gained over a stock hood if your using a 14" round air cleaner.

    AUTO OVERDRIVE

for the neutral safety switch/backup lights, bullet connectors and lengths of wire are the harness. Made mine up for free with stuff out of the electrical drawer. The blue bullets are a bit bigger but will work fine. Lentech has a good install manual available on the web showing wiring diagram...

    Pics Needed: Hood Prop Rod

^ me too, the top of my prop rod sits in the pass side hood pin hole thru the support and rests on the underside of the hood itself (2 layers on my glass hood, support and hood itself). The horn wires make a nice holder for the rod on the driver side when stowing the rod. sorry no pics, Im at work.

    AUTO OVERDRIVE

May want to rethink the stock shifter. I went with the stock setup to keep my sweet stock console and made my own rod, this works very well for cruising and I have no regrets in going AOD. However, after a year of use I really want a good aftermarket shifter with positive shift stops and reverse...

Versailles Rear End & T-5 Setup

I just went to the local driveline service, they hooked me up in 1 day with spicer yolks and joints on a moly tube for not too bad of a price. Use the yellow pages.

    Inner fenders

Performance tires throw bigger rocks than stock tires. I was thinking about roll on bedliner for the underside of the fenders to keep any more pimples from showing up.

    Stainless Steel Trim

try the hardware store for polishing compounds and wheels, it avoids the mail order costs.

8" ford rear, far from indestructable.....

I know the 8's are weaker, but still think if set up properly they should be able to handle 350-400HP on the street. Now that should be good for most people out there that are warming over a 302 rated at less than 250HP stock and dumping it into there stang. HP junkies and clutch dumpers, sure...

    Winter storage

buy a tester, they are cheap. You may need to just drain 1 gal and fill with straight antifreeze to get to the right levels.

    Flowmaster vs Magnaflow mufflers

I like my magnaflows(2.5 W/X pipe & JBA full lengths), They are loud enough for me but my engine is a 347 with bumped up compression from a stock 302. People still hear me coming from around the block & they are polished stainless to boot. I also like the sounds from the 3" pipes/super turbo...

    Driveshaft questions

9" swap and you still want the old driveshaft? I would have a new 3.5" moly tube built with spicer joints. you dont want to find the next weak link the hard way.

AOD guys, lockup or non-lockup converter

My Performance Automatic came with a non lock up 22-2400 stall. I have no problems using it for 100% street duty.

Header Wrap (just let me explain)

The header wrap doesn't "promote rust", it overheats the metal (650f for carbon steel) and they just flake away. On a budjet (who isn't) take your time preping them and just paint them. Protect the starter and fuel from the heat and you will be fine.

I found oversize screws for the tail light bezels, check with the parts houses there should be something out there.

Tuning - idle speed/timing questions.. HELP!

If the pointer is wrong, I would pick up timing tape for the balancer at the local parts store. The tape is applied on the balancer giving you 0deg where ever you want it and it only costs a few bucks. Timing by ear for me was always a good warm up then find a nice hill and do a few full...
