    idle drops when first giving it gas

    The idle on my car dips down about 200 rpms when I first give it gas, which makes take offs kinda jerky. Any one know what would cause this? The cars a '97 GT 5 speed manual tranny. (2nd problem w/ my 'new' car if anyone read my other post)

    not sure if its an exhaust leak, b/c I'd think that'd be constant, the noise seems more prominant on a rougher road than a smoother one (non highway).

    I know there are no cats on the exhaust, not sure what exhaust it is exactly, I just picked the car up on friday and didn't test drive it on the highway so I wasn't aware of the sound until after I bought it. The car drives fine, but the sound kinda scares me b/c it obviously shouldn't be there.

    not really metallic, lower decibal sounds, just like a popcorn maker when its popping a bunch of popcorn (on the highway when the sound is consistent).

    I'm getting a weird popping type noise (kinda sounds like popcorn popping) that occurs most noticably when I'm on the highway doing 70+. I can hear it a little bit on and off while driving on surface streets, but it is constant at high speeds and sounds like its coming from the Front Right...

    My goal by the end of summer is to finish the Interior, upgrade the Ignition, get the car repainted and finally get some 17" wheels I've been wanting so bad. I've been working a second job during the weekends so I can reach this goal (also b/c I have other financial obligations).

    I drive a good 60 miles roundtrip a day to work and back and spend about $300 a month on gas. If I could double my mileage, get about 25ish a gallon, then I would have an extra $150 a month, which would basically pay for the new used car.

    Motor Mount Help

    I have a '66 and am wondering which motor mounts I need. When I go to Autozone they ask me if the build date is "Built from 4/66", or "Built to 3/66". How can I find out? and what is the difference between the motor mounts from the 2 different build dates? :shrug:

    I plan to get some racing seats to 66StangFastback, and I really wanted the 4 point harness...I just wish I didn't need a roll bar or have to take the rear seats out to install it. Nice write up dennis112, I'm hoping to find a way to install them w/o welding though.
