what are some decent street/strip shocks for the front?

i just bought some Competition Engeneering 3 way's for the rear and i am thinking of getting some shocks for the front. i see lakewood has fixed rate shocks for ~$92 ea. i would like to get some adjustable's, but the fronts get fairly pricey. anyone have any recommendations? i guess i...

LX tailpipes on a GT ???

personally, i vote for the cobra rear too. but, i couldn't afford to do that at the time, so the result is what you see. one of these years when i get the car painted, i'll get the cobra rear valance and a cowl hood to go along with it. but for now, i think it looks pretty good. actually...

LX tailpipes on a GT ???

it can be done without "hacking" the rear valance. i happen to think that mine is tastefully done.

New best MPH & ET...questions too...

mike, i don't know how this is for everyone else, but my mph goes up with the slicks. i'm sure it's partially because i run 28" street tires and step down to a 27" slick. i'll second addressing the balancer problem. does it wobble at all? if so, you may be wearing the crank bearings down...

New best MPH & ET...questions too...

good job mike. mph is climbing. keep playing with the settings. sorry, i can't really help with the EEC. i can tell you however, that i have a Pro-M 75mm Bullet mass air meter with the stock airbox and K&N filter. i even have the stock rubber inlet that goes between the mass air and TB...

    1/4 times and trap speeds

if you're a good driver and can hook up pretty good, i think 100 mph is good for low to mid 13's. should only take about 103 to 105 mph to get into the high 12 second range. mid 12's probably need about 105 to 108 mph. of course, not everyone has their suspension dialed in. they may not...

Went to rebuild trac-loc and pinion shaft hits ring gear: 4.56's

can you please explain what type of problems developed? how can you be so sure the problems were a result of the minute grinding of a ring gear tooth which "should" have no contact with the pinion gear if set up properly. also, were they used gears? maybe they were already abused/old or setup...

Finally getting results from garage theft

glad to see something has come of it. i hate theives! i hope everything goes your way but, good luck getting your restitution money. i had someone steal from me one time, granted it was only ~$100, but i filed charges against him and he was to pay me back. i never saw a dime. i never...

Went to rebuild trac-loc and pinion shaft hits ring gear: 4.56's

the lower the gear, the thicker the ring gear. i ran into problems with my 4.30', especially because i run a 31 spline T-Lock which has a thicker shaft. i would try what these guys said first, definatly easiest. push the shaft out as far as you can, maybe it's enough to push the axles in...

Went to rebuild trac-loc and pinion shaft hits ring gear: 4.56's

stuff rags in there where you're grinding. while grinding, hold a rag over it and do your best at letting nothing get to the bearings. you won't need to gring off all that much if you can already get the shaft halfway out.

Went to rebuild trac-loc and pinion shaft hits ring gear: 4.56's

did you try getting the shaft out from both sides? maybe they ground the other side. i just don't understand how the hell they got it all together if you can't even get the shaft out. i ran into this problem installing my 4.30's and had to grind down a tooth.

    Shifting a stock 5.0

try shifting without looking at the tach, go by feel. meanwhile, have a friend look at where you were shifting at. i've run some of my best times at the track without even looking at the tach. just an idea.

    How the crap........

reverse the tensioner. take it apart, take the spring out, drill a new hole on the other side of the housing and fit the spring back in there. now instead of the tensioner pushing down on the belt, it will now push up. the spring actually works in the opposite direction it was designed to...
